Dubh Aingeal Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 "How cool wouldn't it be to be able to burn the label on your cd using the same laser you used to burn the cd in the first place? Well, I guess this technology called LightScribe will be coming soon. 'Suppose you have just created a compilation CD of a dozen or so of your favorite songs. Now you want to make a label that contains the song titles, artists' names, and some personal information and design elements to make it special. First, burn your tracks onto the data side of the disc. Then open your favorite LightScribe-enabled label-making software and go to the CD template work area. Now you do all of your creative design workcompose pictures, copy, artwork whatever. When you are satisfied with what you have done, take the disc out of your drive, flip it over to the label side and put it back in the drive. Now go back to your label-making software, and simply click print.'"
Fierce Critter Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Cool. But I bet it's gonna require better quality CDR's than the 100@$30 spindles I get from Best Buy...
TheLordShaper Posted December 24, 2004 Posted December 24, 2004 Actually, lightscribe was developed by HP and I, being the marketing manager for mid-michigan, have been ramping for its arrivial now for three months prior to release. It will in fact require lightscribe capable media but its not expected to be much more then the traditional CD-Rs people are use to. The downside is that its a technology that will require a new CD/DVD-burner, however all new HP machines come late January will have the technology built in and HP has already sold it to other vendors to allow OEM manafacturers to place it in their drives. ~TLS
Marblez Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 So would this just be etching on the disc or is there color involved?
