Morrissey and Marr chose 'the Smiths' because they wanted a very simple name that said nothing-in contrast to alot of other bands around who tried to have deep or clever names. I've think it's cool too.

And that reminds me of Joy Division. They of course, were named after a division of Jewish women that were kept for Nazi officers' 'parites'. Terrible thing, but I think it's a cool name if you can get past that-

Maybe you do look like her...hmmm. Lucky! The only rock and roll comparison I've ever gotten was Neal Young, and that sucks. It was about a week after that happened, that I cut my hair. (Years ago.)

The Cramps, while having a (hot, badass) woman in the band, are not a girl band. Though Lux Interior does have a thing for women's shoes.
