I grew up with AAA, and got a decent quote from them.

I'm with State Farm, but owe a couple back payments from out NC policy, so switching to them here in Michigan probably won't work out financially.

Geico was ridiculous. "Save money by switching to Geigo" is a joke.

Anyone got any tips for me on other companies to call for a rate quote? I kinda have to have this done yesterday. State Farm hasn't cancelled me yet, but they will soon.

Thanks!

If you've fast, reliable Internet access, you might try Progressive.

I had State Farm before I went Progressive, and not only did Progressive save me money, but the one time I called them for a small claim, they were extremely helpful (as far as insurance companies go).

What!? you didn't save on car insurance by switching to Geico?!

Its an affront to nature I say!!!! I heard Geico really sucks but their commercials are funny as hell.

I like AAA the best....I know they're not the cheapest, but so far they've been the most convienent to get things done.

My husband saw an accident happen in his rear view mirror. We stopped. My husband went back to ask if this man was ok. The man jumped out of his car and started yelling at him saying that it was our fault for the accident! We were in the middle lane, he was in the third lane behind us and decided to get in the next lane.

The police officer said that we had nothing to do with the situation and we could go.

A few weeks later we received a letter in the mail from Geiko, they were suing us for damages!!!

Daniel called them and gave them a piece, or two, of his mind and we never heard from them again.

I ended up going with AAA. It was between them and State Farm, which we already had.

Actually, AAA's rate was VERY good. And they were having a special on the required membership, so it worked out excellent.

I've gone back and forth between AAA and State Farm over the years. They can tend to be more expensive than some companies, but they have hidden advantages that some others don't. Such as only going back 3 years in your driving history vs. 5 which many others use, good road service (particularly 1 number to worry about with AAA), and best of all - no credit check.

Progressive, Allstate and many others are basing rates partially on credit score more and more. I find that obscene and all sorts of wrong. My credit record has NOTHING to do with my driving record or risk as an insured driver. I find it offensive that my good driving record & lack of claims can matter less than whether or not I was able to pay my bills last month.
