honeymustard02 Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 I got my eyebrows waxed yesterday. It didn't hurt as much as everyone said but the girl told me it's because I already plucked them. The only thing is she took off a lot more then I thought she would. I'm not sure if I like it or not. What's your take on waxing? I think I'm going to stick with it, but I'll go somewhere else to get them shaped when they grow in more.
gothicmom Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 I LOVE IT!!!!! I don't do it as often as a I should. Aymee had her brows done before school started. She really likes it. Has any one had a Bazilian wax? I've always wondered about those.
unchaste Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Ouch. Eyebrows, not so bad, but what about a large patch o' hair? I wouldn't wax my legs for anything. Give me my razor, please. Maybe when I'm rich, I'll get electrolysis.
honeymustard02 Posted September 18, 2005 Author Posted September 18, 2005 Since I didn'y mind my eyebrows, I was thinking of trying my legs some time. I've thought about a brazilian wax but never really wanted one. I think that would be too painful for me.
Onyx Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Tried it, hated it, went back to shaving. Left me really smooth but I had the tendency to get ingrown hairs too, which does not happen to me with shaving for legs and elsewhere, plucking for eyebrows. Plus, that kind of pain is not pleasant to me at all. Ouch.
paradox Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 i wax it all the time! ...er... :erm wait, uh...wrong forum... :fear
Nienna Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 I used to get everything waxed all the time back when I had money. *L* Now I'm back to plucking and shaving. I loved it while it lasted though!
Fierce Critter Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 I got my first arching (eyebrow waxing) done about 10 years ago, and I loved it. As with most cosmetic procedures, I watched a few skilled people do it, and went out and bought my own wax pot & materials and I do it myself now. Takes some practice, and I don't have the $$ for the better quality waxes, so it can be frustrating sometimes trying to do it right. And on more than one occasion, I have had to use makeup to "replace" that which I overdid. But it's much more satisfying, and to me, a LOT less painful than plucking. I picked up an unopened jar of Nad's at a yard sale last year, and have used it on my legs a couple times. It is WONDERFUL. Works fantastic, is MUCH easier to use than Wax, and MUCH MUCH easier to clean-up after (it's made from natural ingredients such as honey & molasses, so all it takes is a washrag to get rid of residue). I highly recommend giving it a try. Pain from waxing often comes from not properly preparing the SKIN beforehand. For legs, arms & other large areas, take a good, hot shower - or better yet, soak in a tub first. Do the waxing/Nad's BEFORE you air-dry too much. Try an application of a decent moisturizer first, too, but make sure you rub it in well and then go over the area with a towel to blot excess off of the hairs so the wax will grab them. Immediately after waxing, apply a VERY good moisturizer or refresher/astringent to help the skin rebound.
honeymustard02 Posted September 21, 2005 Author Posted September 21, 2005 I tried that Nad's stuff and it hurt like crazy and didn't work. I probably did it wrong, but I still don't want to retry it! lol
FarrIL Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 LOL, Dave. Anywho, I've never tried waxing, and I dont think I want to shell out the money to either. I prefer the razor e.e
paradox Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 i wax it all the time!...er... :erm wait, uh...wrong forum... :fear <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wax off sometimes... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> way ahead a ya there, DD
holliwood66 Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 I wax my arms and legs when I have the $. *I hate any type of body hair...on me anyway, I don't mind it at all on other people.* I have yet to get the "hoo-hah etc." waxed, and frankly am scared of the pain and possible rash/ingrown hairs so razor it is~ :blink
Brenda Starrr Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 You have more of a chance getting ingrown hairs from shaving than you do with waxing. Trust me-I know from personal experience. And it's just so incredibly painful to have an ingrown hair there.
saechalyn Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 My eyebrows aren't very thick and don't require much attention, so I just pluck them. I would love to wax other places, but I don't want to let the hair grow long enough to be able to hold the wax. I wish I could just get electrolysis from the neck down.
