this is just a simple question to help me decided on something.

would anyone happen to know what kind of shampoo to buy that is for dry scaple, oily, curly hair? yes, i have all three of these combined. aren't i the lucky one with all the screwed up genes.

they have all of these seperate, but i'm trying to find one that will combine all three of them. they have ones for dry scale and curly hair, oily and curly hair, but not all three. that saddens me. =( i guess i could combine the one's that fit my need, but that will really ruin my hair, and i like it the way it is... oily and all.

so, any suggestions are welcomed. :cheerful

Maybe try Pantene's dandruff formula? (I think that will work for dry scalp also).

I really like the way my hair shines with Pantene products.

Hair... what is this hair thing you speak of?

One of the beautiful and bald, Dark?

Dry scalp may require a medicated sort of shampoo, like a dandruff shampoo as suggested above, the oily and curly are the purview of conditioner. Choose based on that. Thou dinnae need to worry so much about matching all three in both products: the shampoo should bring dirt and grime out of thy hair and tease the scalp; and the conditioner will work to smooth out, shine up, and act on the curls.

I have had a great deal of luck with Pantene products myself, although I am thinking of trying out a few others. I spent a great deal of time on my hair: it's one of the few things that I've been able to upkeep about my appearance since getting sick.

For the dandruff problem, I've heard you can take a cap full of mouthwash (mint) and pour it over your head after you've washed your hair. I forget how long, but you let it sit a moment or two and then rinse it out.

Yes I am...

When I was younger... i had hair. I had hair that people on a regular basis told me they would kill for.. natural platnium blonde. As i got older it changed to a brownish red.. then fell out.

I miss my hair.. more than most people can possibly fathom...

ok, Pantene is starting to win. i'll try it, plus buy a dandruf shampoo. my hair's already gotten use to the other shampoo that i've been using, and it doesn't work anymore. anywho, thanks for the suggestions. :grin keep them coming if you can think of anything else that will help.

i have the same issue. though my scalp is usually only dry in the winter or when my eczema is acting up (when i get a flare up that is pretty bad, my scalp actually gets bothered by it too. usually from stress.)

dandruff shampoo does nothing for me, since i don't have dandruff just dry scalp.

stuff for oily hair- makes my hair too dry and not so curly.

other stuff makes my hair too weighed down.

pantene always worked for me. for years. though i have heard from stylists that pantene is bad for your hair. well, it worked good on me when i used it. i think i used the stuff for dry hair?? it has been years now so i can't recall. it was when my hair was long and dry. now that i keep it short i really don't have a dry hair issue at all. unless i use a bad shampoo. :nut

i have come to realize i can only use salon shampoos. when i dye my hair the best shampoos i have ever used are pureology (expensive) and claypac (not so bad money wise). though i can't seem to find claypac ANYWHERE now in stores.

We all have dry skin in this house. We alternate between medicated Selsun blue and denorex.

Can anyone explain anything can be bad for your hair? Hair is dead cells. Dead things can't get healthy... if they could, they would not be dead. Not trying to be a sour puss, but I just don't get it.. didn't when I had hair.

True -- hair is essentially dead cells, however you can make those strings of dead cells look really ratty and ugly or shiny and pretty, depends on how you treat it. the word "healthy" is sort of misleading. It's all appearance really.

The hair has a cuticle covering the shaft, sort of like little scales. When the scales are roughened up the hair won't shine and looks dull and ugly. Using good quality hair products and conditioners will shine it up and make those little scales lie down and reflect light.

The hair also will break much more easily when damaged than when kept strong with quality products. Improper coloring and bleaching can also damage hair. I'm living proof though that you can abuse your hair horribly, bleaching, coloring, straightening, blow-drying and still bring back that shine if you use a good reconditioner and a good shampoo.

By the way, Dark, you look hot just as you are. You are one of the fortunate men who look great with or without hair.

see, i have a problem with conditioning my hair because it will make my head really oily within an 8hr. time period. i've figured out that part though, just run it through the long strans of hair, and make sure it doesn't touch the scalp.

most of my hair problem does have to do with season change too. in the winter time, my hair's fine, and i don't have that much of a problem. in summer though, i have one hell of a time restraining myself from shaving it all off. it's not like it's damaged from swimming in a pool (i refuse to swim in a public pool, and there's no one near me that has one.)
