DarkenedCharm Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 This is a horrible pic, but hopefully you can get the idea. I bought these boots years ago from Hot Topic. They were some of the GOOD boots that HT used to sell. I have worn them everyday for roughly 5 years, and they have served me well. They have taken the abuse of many years on stage with bands, running for buses, countless hours on my feet at Milwaukee Metalfest, and helping me stumble back home drunk after many debauched nights out. However, now they are falling apart, and from what I hear, are no longer made by the company (GBX). Does anyone know anywhere I might be able to find another pair of these? I have tried Ebay, to no avail. I have also tried licensed GBX retail outlets, and most of the people working at these places have looked at me like I was asking them to replicate moon rocks for me. See Pic...
Brenda Starrr Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 Sweetie, you may just have to accept that you CANNOT get these boots anymore, and find new boots that you will love. Or not.
Onyx Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 I have seen similar boots in Meijer of all places. Not exactly the same, but very similar.
Lilith Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 I have seen similar boots in Meijer of all places. Not exactly the same, but very similar. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah i have seen similar boots but nothing exactly the same, You might want to put a post up here or here ya might get some one who has a pair that has been sitting around and has been hardly used that they are willing to sell. Did you google the name and brand of the boots, there are allot of odd ball website which sell items new and used and ya might find some neat corner of the net with what you are looking for. Ya also might try to google vintage hot topic or something similar, there might be some type of web store that sells such items in general and they might know where to get them or they might keep there eye open for those boots nad may contact you latter when thye come across them, we have done this for things such as bar/beer items with our last name on them and had good success, the only thing the guy allways seems to call when i have no $. :erm I am tapped but if i think of anything or can think of where i saw the similar boots i will update.
Mzdeadlyspell Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 WOW a want it now post thing on ebay..where have I been... I am going there to post for this monster fur coat I am desperate to get...
ZhukovCodeslinger Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 what exactly is wrong with the boots? I have had a pair of carolinas that I have been getting repaired every few years since 1993 or 1994. I wore them while riding my motorcycle for several years.... This reqired me to get new soles put on them 3 times and I have had to have cracks/tears sewn up.... if that is all that is wrong with your boots, then you can probably get them fixed. There is a shop here (in Ypsilanti michigan) that does a really good job of fixing boots... the guy who does the work is especially happy if you tell him "I just want them fixed, I dont care what they look like", meaning he can use a patch rather than when dealing with yuppies who just want the crack to magically disappear. I spent $45 for new soles, and had a whole new piece of leather sewn over the toe to make up for cracks on either side of the instep as well as a new spine up the back of the boot, new laces, and an industrial polish. Ill help you recycle these boots if you want <smile> final note.... how is the sole attached to the leather upper? if it is sewn, then you are OK. if it is glued... then you are pretty much screwed (once the sole wears away)
DarkenedCharm Posted October 5, 2005 Author Posted October 5, 2005 They are starting to come apart at the back calf shield, and the insoles are almost gone (Not a problem there, I know...). The toes have lost their shape pretty much, and the soles have almost been worn smooth, instead of lugged the way they used to be. I COULD get them fixed, but it would almost make more sense just to get a new pair of boots. I dunno...
Brenda Starrr Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 You need the boots we saw in Stikky Fingers.
DarkenedCharm Posted October 6, 2005 Author Posted October 6, 2005 HOLY SHIT!!! You are completely right. I didn't forget about them, but I don't see how I can get those...They were expensive and all the way up there. The way Goth / Metal style boots go in and out of production, if you don't "grab em when you see em", you are usually out of luck. Especially with me not having a credit card or checking account..I can't get them online... But yes. Those were some GORGEOUS boots, and my heart did a little blackened flutter when I saw them.
Brenda Starrr Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 You never know what could happen. You could get those boots....
