EvilEve Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 (i swear, as soon as i get a cam, you'll see my puppy's pic.) Does anyone else's pet run and hide during a thunderstorm, or anything else that makes them stand out amongst all the other pets you've seen? my dog is terrified of thunderstorms. so instead of hiding under something, he'll go and run in the bathroom, and hide in the bathtub. that's not so much a problem except when you have to use it, and you don't realize that there's this furry mass laying in the tub looking up at you. fireworks, he does the same thing. anyone else have similar stories about their pets, and what they do?
bean Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 My cat is a total nut, I could write a whole book on it! Anyway, when it storms, she likes to get in the window and watch. Then she tries to attack the lightning. When it flashes, she makes this "chittering" sort of noise, then jumps and bats at the window, while doing some sort of cat-fu (cat king-fu).
DarkVampire Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 I have one cat that will run off and hide underneath the bed. My other one will look out the window and watch it rain, as long as she doesn't get wet.
LadyWindstone Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Let's see. I have three cats. Pywacket the little black female, will run and hide in the closet. Kabuto and Damien play during thunderstorms. In fact Kabuto was playing with his foil ball all morning.
kellygrrrrrl Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Every morning when I go potty, my little Dee Dee kitty will come and put her paws up on my knee, and then stretch her little paw until it touches my face....Like a "Good Morning" Stretch. She does this religiously everyday. ... too cute. Both Kitties will play fetch .... with Q-Tips.....and Q-tips only.
Homicidalheathen Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 My cat chews off his whole nails......I don't know why. He has a scratch post. Oh and I never saw a cat loose wiskers like this......I actually get poked sitting on the couch. For awhile there we thought some demon had come through from the other side and was leaving these hairs...... Oh if you knew my house you'd understand why.
Head Wreck Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 two dogs. spike the heawge collie and missie the staffordshire bull terrier/whippet. thunder/fireworks. Spike: hides under my computer desk Missie: does the scooby do jump and grab on to nearest person i'm cleaning an airsoft and the dogs come round to the shed where i store/maintain them. Spike: goes timid, stays low Missie: tries to climb on my shoulder using the airsoft as a grab bar throw a ball. spike: fetches Missie: chases spike and tries to corner him Sitting down to watch TV. Spike looks like he wants to join you, but dances round the coffee table if you ask him to, then looks jealously as missie... Missie: nabs his space, even been known to "ask" spike to come play if he's on the couch so she can steal his place. curled up on couch and someone enters. Spike: MUST DANCE AROUND THE COFFEE TABLE WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! Missie: actually moves a paw over the person she's snuggled up to as if to say "this humans mine!" nothing much is going on. Spike: dances around the coffee table Missie: sneaks into the greenhouse to sunbathe or the patio
Shade Everdark Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 My Kiri also does the paw stretch--but not just in the morning. Whenever she wants attention and isn't getting it, she'll hop up as close to eye level with me as she can conveniently get, usually the couch or the bed, and stretch out a paw, almost like a dog trying to shake. When I extend my hand toward her, she'll grab it with just enough claw to make sure that I don't pull my hand back, and then she'll start rubbing her head against it. She also refuses to eat if anyone is in the kitchen, where her food & water dishes are located.
EvilEve Posted October 3, 2005 Author Posted October 3, 2005 apparently, spike likes the coffee table. Uey talks. it's kinda funny. he'll let you know if he wants to play, and he'll grab whatever toy he's obsessing over at the time. then you MUST throw it at least 100 times, or else he'll lay down with his head on the toy, and proceed to be a pouting nazi. (i.e. looking up at you with the sad brown eyes, and sighing heavily.) when new people (to him) come over, it takes him at least 3 visits before he walks up to them, and greets them, rather than acting like he's going to bite their pant leg, and pee himself. (he's a little timid.) if someone he knows walks in the door, he'll walk to them on his hind legs, then roll over at their feet, and want them to rub his belly. he's also a bit jealous when one of HIS family members get's a hug, and the attentions off of him. he'll scratch at whomevers leg is avaliable, and start whinning, and dancing as if to say "Hey, look what I can do!" other than that, he's a cuddle whore. he'll curl up right next to you, wanting you to pet him, then he'll fall asleep. or he'll crawl under the covers, then curl up right against you, and fall asleep.
Paper Hearts Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Weenie runs across my feet as I move about the kitchen in an attempt to remind me to feed her. It's almost put me flat on my face, several times. Also, she likes to make out with shoes, especially if they are new shoes to our place, as in those of guests. what else? Hmmm...she likes to sit on my lap 'only' when guests are over. i can't get her off me when I have people over, a lot of times. She likes to walk up to my face and cry at night, so that I will wake up and pet her. And when I'm combing my daughter's hair in the morning she gets jealous and comes around so that I will comb her a bit, too.
Brenda Starrr Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Bobby is a hugger who sucks his right thumb while kneading with his left. Afterward, he lays down in your arms, just like a baby. Trixie likes to wake us up by licking our eye boogers out. Sunny sits on the windowsill and talking to the birds.
Killer_Bunnie Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Pookie knows revenge and how to use it. I had a water bottle so she would stop attacking things, I shot her with it, so she waited until I was asleep and put both front legs half up them in a bowl of water, sat above my head and shook the water off on me. this was not a one time thing, I no longer have a water bottle because of it.
faerywoman19 Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Hmm, my iguana will lick your toes if they are too close to his cage and he happens to be near you. He also likes to hang upside down to eat. I used to have a cat that laughed whenever she saw birds on the railing outside. One of my current cats has to rub on me while using the toilet, while bellowing out those most annoying yowls. My other cat and my 5 year old have "kitty talk" conversations at 3 in the morning when he wakes up to use the bathroom. He meows perfectly. My shih-tzu does not chew toys, shoes, or anything left on the ground. Unless it happens to be metal. Razors, safety pins, hair clips, paper clips, jewelry. And sometimes you never find the blades taken out of the disposeable razors, he swallows them.
LadyWindstone Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 I was yelled at for taking a shower once. My cat Kabuto was in the bathroom when i was taking a shower. He put his paws on the edge of the tub and looked inside. He then looked at me. He started looking from the drain to me and back again. I then looked at him and asked "What?" He looked at me and at the top of his lungs meowed right in my face like he was saying "That's DISGUSTING." He was so loud my mother heard him in the living room. We both started laughing.
Lilith Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 My Little Grey n white kitty which is not so much a "little" kitty any more drools so bad, when ever he wants to sleep and you are aviable, your lap is the place he wants. He will kneed your tummy, arm what ever and DROOL like mad. It drips and ya have to finally get a napkin to lay under under his chin or change yer shirt. So Cute n funny.
Nienna Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Icky-Maru, my stupid boy Siamese is about the weirdest cat I've ever had. He eats things. Whol cat toys, huge holes in clothing/blankets... it's nuts. He also willingly plays fetch, and puts all array of "stolen" articles into his food dish. It's cute, but SO ANNOYING!
Rayne Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 I have a APBT mix (as we've learned before, GC doesn't allow APBT's...so let's just call him a mutt)...anyway, my dog wsa rescued from the Texas/Mexico border. Seems his previous owner (a trucker) got into some trouble over in Mexico and ended up dying. They found the dog 3 days later in his truck. Near death. Got him up here to Michigan... Umm...yeah, he's a crazy Mexican. Laredo Chico Vato (arm motion) Dorito Taquito Homeboy Skillet. He's got like 300 names, everyone calls him something different...but he's crazy. Literally crazy. Good dog, awesome temperment, loves my kids...but yeah...he's crazy like a Mexican. :cheerful
SomeDanGuy Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Both of mine knock over any water glasses sitting around. For some reason. I have trained Kira to sit up and wave on command =) Sarge always licks the water off me after a shower
EvilEve Posted October 7, 2005 Author Posted October 7, 2005 ok, does anyone else's pet try to/ successfully jump up into your lap while you're on the computer just to see what you're doing?
SomeDanGuy Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 ok, does anyone else's pet try to/ successfully jump up into your lap while you're on the computer just to see what you're doing? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> When I'm at the computer, my lap is like a major thoroughfare at rush hour. Worse than just seeing what I'm doing, if the cats aren't getting enough attention, they'll stand on my desk directly in front of the monitor and stare at me. Maybe try to rub my hands while I'm typing.
Brenda Starrr Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Sunny walks across the keyboard every time I get on DGN!
SomeDanGuy Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Sunny walks across the keyboard every time I get on DGN! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, right. You're just trying to make an excuse for some of the things you've posted
TearSandrille Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 One of my friend's cats will open up the bathroom cupboard, crawl into one of the drawers and pull out a tampon. Then, drag it out to the living room where he will take it in his mouth and throw it across the room only to run after it and do the same thing. But ONLY with tampons.
Nevaeh Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 every night...as soon as i shut my lights off and lay down in my bed, my gecko decides its time for him to climb up on his limb and jump at the glass...its like he's testing for a weak spot or a portal to freedom or something. i just hope he doesnt hurt himself
EvilEve Posted October 8, 2005 Author Posted October 8, 2005 this is what your gecko is thinking... *Good! She's asleep! Now if only I could get out of here. My plan to take over the world will soon be complete! Starting with HER!! ~jumps at glass~ Blast it all!! This is some strong force field. How does one get out of this kind of situation? Maybe there's an exit of some kind. I will not rest until I find it!*
