"Morrissey Reveals New Album Details

Morrissey has revealed that his new album has been given the almost too-Morrissey-esque title ‘Ringleader Of The Tormentors’ and will be produced by longtime David Bowie collaborator Tony Visconti.

The new record, the follow-up to 2004’s critically and commercially acclaimed ‘You Are The Quarry’ is reportedly due to be completed by November 1 and will be released on Morrissey’s own Attack Records label in early 2006.

Early reports claimed Killers producer Jeff Salzma would be working on the album which, according to his US publicist, was shaping up to be “The most full-on rock record Morrissey's ever done. It's a balls-to-the-wall rock record, not a slow one like the last one."

However this turned out to be utter bobbins, as Tony Visconti, renowned for his work with David Bowie, T Rex and John Squire’s former band, The Seahorses, has been announced as producer.

And the claims it was something of a rock behemoth are also inaccurate, with Morrissey himself declaring the new record is,

“The most beautiful, perhaps the most gentle, so far.”

But then again, that too could be an erroneous statement, made to confuse his faithful fans.

Your guess is as good as ours."

If you go there lately, it just shows a large MMVI. -Roman numerals for 2006. Morrissey's new album is being recorded in Rome.

Beyond the MMVI, there is also a spot where you can subscribe to the mailing list, although nothing else.

Something else interesting-

I was just reading that four songs on You Are the Quarry, made the UK top 10. I think the best showing here was 'First Of the Gang to Die' but I'm sure that it didn't make it into the US top 40, let alone 10.

Anyway...
