Rayne Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 I forgot these...550hp... damn govener at 205mph.... Ford GT 500hp... 200mph.... Dodge Viper and my all time fav.... Austin Martin DBR9 specs are unknown at this time... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't like Ford's...besides my father's truck I am sometimes forced to drive (F-150, nothing fancy) I won't drive one. Now buy me a Roush Mustang and I might change my mind. Vipers are overrated. I've driven one...steers and handles like crap, even at moderately high speeds (and that was 70 down I-94). Doesn't "grip the road", wants to wander all over. Don't like it. Maybe it was the particular Viper I had the pleasure of driving...but I'm willing to bet it wasn't. Aston Martin...who in the world DOESN'T like an Aston Martin?
Shade Everdark Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 I have to agree that the Viper is absolute garbage when it comes to handling. Ford GT though--very nice. It's not the fastest thing on the road, and it's horribly overpriced but my dream car is this: There's also a soft spot in my heart for this:
Paper Hearts Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 I don't know how you guys talk about handling and then show a bunch of drag racers and nascar specials. Obviously not. -Alright, some of you had a few formula 1 cars that are pretty sweet, but anyway, for me It's rally or nothing. So what's a good American rally car? There is none. I really want a Citroen. Too bad it's so hard to get one in the US. I Especially dig classic Citroens: There's nothing cooler. I'll never get one ofcourse, though.

Funky cool cars... I think it's time for a DGN fantasy car thread.....
The_Dark Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 I've got the current Automobile mag in front of me. They compare the new Corvette Z06, 06 Ford GT and 06 Dodge Viper Coupe. According to them the Viper's handling is way better than it was in the past... and this years Vette is in the top 5 of all time vettes... but the Ford GT blows them both away in all tests. Actually, I have subscriptions to about 7 car mags.. they all say the same thing about the current line up. The Ford GT is in the same class as an Austin Martin DB9, Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Gallardo, Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG and Porche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet. In Car and Driver's side by side comparision and road tests.. the Ford GT comes in 3rd with only the Lamborghini and Ferrari beating it out. The Ford was still faster than all the others though.
The_Dark Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Paperhearts... every car on this thread is a street legal production car. The DBR9 and the Bugatti are barely... but they are street cars...

The Z06 is awful good for the price. It's trump is in daily usablity. I'm with Paul though. Give me a rally car built to my specs for something to go fast day in and day out...any weather and most road conditions.

Nothing beats the function of a Lancer in my book. However, I also have to take into account a Z06 isn't practical hauling around my 3.5 kids.

Obviously not. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Viper is a perfectly legal everyday street car. Okay, so you don't see them everyday, but its not, by any means, classified as a drag racer or a NASCAR special. The Viper has my utmost respect as far as it's highpowered V10, but you put that in your everyday car and your going to get garbage handling. It's a given. IMO, Diamler-Chrysler were not thinking when they did that. Some dude just woke up one morning and said, let's put a V10 in a car that won't get a chance to see a speed in excess of 70 mph (which handling SUCKS ass at) unless it's being chased by multiple police cars and a couple helicopers. :laughing
Rayne Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Here's another everyday car I think is absolutely divine. Although it doesn't beat my dreams of a Lancer Evo8 MR Edition. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b335/Mis...y_RX8_ext34.jpg The Mazda RX-8 Shinka Edition offers 238 hp @ 8500 rpm's and it redlines at 9000. :drool ...and unlike the Evo8 MR, the RX-8 comes in BLUE!!! From what I can see though, this Shinka Edition only comes in the kick ass purply looking colour.
Fierce Critter Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 The best car I've ever owned was my '88 Chevy Cavalier Z24. Had a full sports suspension, great pickup, and performed great, even in snow. I'd have another one any day. But my dream car is a '69 Camaro: I share Ginevra's dislike of modern, rounded, "bubble cars". I miss sharp edges & chrome.
Head Wreck Posted October 12, 2005 Author Posted October 12, 2005 soft edges and chrome.. dodge challengers ooh lorverly, but lancer evo. friend has an evo 9. used to own top end skylines but prefers the drive in them. as to the recent bugatti. jury is still out in my mind tbh. i like vintage cars, but i also love 50's and 60's american cars. espeacially if thier a little gothed up and roofline lowered :D but here we have corners that would make most tourists run home and cry for mommy after dropping thier car of a road and down a slope or wrapping it round a barrier i'll stick to something small and nimble wonder how much evo 5's are to insure and run....

Cars DO have sharp edges these days... some anyways.. Which is fine. Who wants everything to look the same?
Msterbeau Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Nissan Skyline....another sweet ass ride. No wonder you and I get along....
Ginevra Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 I think it's time for a DGN fantasy car thread..... One I think for older cars and then one for newer concept cars.
Rayne Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 No wonder you and I get along.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Where you been all my life? :confused :laughing :laughing :grin :grin

I'd like a car with the gas mileage of a Prius but the body of a Camaro.

Msterbeau Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Hmm... wonders how a pair of glass packs would sound on a 4-cylinder... :laughing You can make 4 cylinders sound good... Probably not with glasspacks. :whistling The Viper's V-10 sounds like shit no matter what you do to it...... Dying toads come to mind.
