Crazed Vampyress Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Just thought i'd pass along what CNN had to say http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/10/21/vitale.suspect/index.html
kellygrrrrrl Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 I had heard about this this morning. I can only imagine how the media will tear up the "GOTHIC" now.......not that they haven't already....but oh how much worse...
Crazed Vampyress Posted October 21, 2005 Author Posted October 21, 2005 I had heard about this this morning. I can only imagine how the media will tear up the "GOTHIC" now.......not that they haven't already....but oh how much worse... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can already see people having a field day with this. parents are gonna start thinking little susie or little tommy are crazed maniacs and start trying to throw away their black lipsticks and nail polish.... geezuz...
Head Wreck Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 what can i say society will always blame its misfits. us and them attitudes. ah well. its not the gothic thing, but rather a mental unstability thing. i know i'm perfectly OK and possible got better self controll than most people.
Lilith Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 OH WTF!!!!! Why dont they ever point out the Jock boy or She was a cheerleader? Why does it allway have to be a matter of style when it comes to goths doing something bad? It is so not the style it is allot about mental stability as mentioned befor. Thank YOU F-in CNN for prsonally making my life and what i have to deal with Having a goth kid Alot harder, bunch a bastards....
Moonlight_Phantasy Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 You know its bad enough Im shunned wherever I go, but now its going to get even worse. I grew up in Detroit, and I just moved out of there a month ago. On my way walking to work one day in June this car full of Wiggers drove by, slowed down, and started chucking full bottles of pop at me. Now the discrimination is going to get worse, and everyone is going to think Im a Satan lover.
Brenda Starrr Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 This is bullshit. Now all goths will be further labeled as "trouble", "Satan worshippers", etc. Give me a fucking break.
gothicmom Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Someone asked my daughter if she believed in God, this was a kid at school. She said yeah why? He said well you wear black alot and stuff.
Ginevra Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Another black eye against anyone who wears more than one article of black at the same time . . . . I'm sorry the man's wife is dead and all; I'm not unsympathetic.
DarkVampire Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 OH WTF!!!!! Why dont they ever point out the Jock boy or She was a cheerleader? Why does it allway have to be a matter of style when it comes to goths doing something bad? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's what happens when you live in a country that is dominated with christians. Goths= evil, devil worshippers, and any other bullshit that doesn't fit into their view.
Msterbeau Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 I'd suggest we stop bitching here and put pen to paper (Or fingers to keys, as the case may be) write CNN and other major news organizations and remind them that one "goth" kid does not represent the entire community.
Moonlight_Phantasy Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 I'd suggest we stop bitching here and put pen to paper (Or fingers to keys, as the case may be) write CNN and other major news organizations and remind them that one "goth" kid does not represent the entire community. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ive already thought of that. And I think its a great idea. Especially if we alll compile one letter and have everyone we know sign it and send it to the "MF"ers.
Crazed Vampyress Posted October 22, 2005 Author Posted October 22, 2005 you know they dont say anything relevent about the kid. anything that might lead to some insight about what was going on in his brain. even the usual 'broken home' or 'socially akward' NO its just 'dressed in black' and "oh that kid" im extreemly disapointed in cnn. other places i would expect this from, but they tend to do a little better than this usually.
Wounds Within Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Just thought i'd pass along what CNN had to say http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/10/21/vitale.suspect/index.html <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes indeed, that is exactly what I am saying in my post.
Mistercreeps Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 I sent my own personal letter in to them but if someone makes on for mass signing count me in! This is bullshit to it's highest degree. Just another way to pass the blame to something other then the fact that this kid was seriously touched in the head.
Crazed Vampyress Posted October 22, 2005 Author Posted October 22, 2005 Yes indeed, that is exactly what I am saying in my post. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> bullshit, isnt it? and my first thought was "Great, didn't Rod Ferrell already do enough for us? do we have to go thru this all again?!?!"
Shade Everdark Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 I am not yet totally convinced that this isn't some sick hoax, or another Jack Thompson-style publicity stunt, but if legitimate, the slant on this article is horrible. I counted a total of four instances in the space of that short article where the terms 'goth' or 'gothic' were used. The journalists here apparently chose to concentrate on the superficial 'goth' characteristics of this disturbed young man, when perhaps they should have looked more into this: While authorities say the motive is not clear, the San Francisco Chronicle, citing an unidentified law enforcement source, reported that investigators said they suspect the killing was related to a scheme that involved using stolen credit card numbers to fund a marijuana-growing operation. But, I suppose they will just use that to cement their belief that goths are, every one, drug addicts as well. They might also have focused a bit more on this: A man at the house where the suspect lived declined to comment Thursday, as goats and chickens wandered around the property. A potbelly stove, a bathtub and dozens of baseballs littered the yard, AP reported. Does it mean anything? Not necessarily. It might well be more telling than his goth appearance, though.
Crazed Vampyress Posted October 22, 2005 Author Posted October 22, 2005 if the kid was a jock the story WOULD HAVE focused on "the killing was related to a scheme that involved using stolen credit card numbers to fund a marijuana-growing operation." but NO, he wore black. He was GOTH so that MUST be what was the whole thing was about!!!! Ugh!
paradox Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 wanna know something funny, i was talking to my mom today and she mentioned the story and the tone used conveyed the sense that some how the 'goth' aspect was the problem. i just laughed. whatever. people are going to persecute kids fer being different anyway. not like it aint been happening all along. id guess the kid was slightly unhinged to start with.
Head Wreck Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 yep. thats the reason unhinged people are a danger wherever thier put
SpidersMoment Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 a conversation between my mom and I. *grabs my arm and makes me watch the news* Mom: They say he was "goth" Me: So? *news talks about his attire* Me: ooooooo watch out mom, i have on black nailpolish Mom: Go Take it off Me: No! cuz I'm gonna go kill someone! *walks away*
Lilith Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Someone asked my daughter if she believed in God, this was a kid at school. She said yeah why? He said well you wear black alot and stuff. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> UM goths are very much Christian....... In many ways they even have Christian goth web sites now Example another example... google the rest Perhaps while at school maybe to help alter the thoughts of atleast her peers your daughter might be able to rome some Christian Goth web sites for those who think goths are SATAN to see........ Just an idea... i dont know i just ahte seeing Kids getting questioned like that but yet i am glad the other kid had the nerve to straight up ask instead of just assume as many other would........Might end up bieng a very open minded kinda guy when he grows up if he can question freely to find the answer for himself instead of just believieng what he here's..... It just makes me made to think people atomatically assume GOths are satan worshipers..... My son Decided to take christ in to his heart this past sunday at another persons church, THe person normally thinks of Brian and my self as un christian, wrong etc...., any how when Cody accepted GOD evey one was all amazed, surprised and everything. Brian and i stood there like YEah this dont surprise us........(dont get me wrong Cody got our excitment for him but these other people annoyed me) This person even went as far to have spoken with my other in law about this in a manner in which warranted my mother in alw to say " ya know they say grace befor every meal, they say nightly prayers, they pray for other when needed etc....... they are not BAD people... ( she made me smile she stuck up for us Finally, :grin odd woman she really is not all bad just )
Moonlight_Phantasy Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 I sent my own personal letter in to them but if someone makes on for mass signing count me in! This is bullshit to it's highest degree. Just another way to pass the blame to something other then the fact that this kid was seriously touched in the head. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, I do plan to do plan to write a letter and have everyone sign it. If anyone wants to add any input please send it to me via email or personal message. I already started on the rough draft in my notebook last night. Email: blackrose9747@yahoo.com
Crazed Vampyress Posted October 23, 2005 Author Posted October 23, 2005 a conversation between my mom and I. *grabs my arm and makes me watch the news* Mom: They say he was "goth" Me: So? *news talks about his attire* Me: ooooooo watch out mom, i have on black nailpolish Mom: Go Take it off Me: No! cuz I'm gonna go kill someone! *walks away* <{POST_SNAPBACK}> sounds so much like my conversations in the mid 90s with my mom when Rod Ferrell was blowing up the news in the mid 90's... i was like 15/16-ish Mom: they say this boy leads a cult me: and...? Mom: well it has something to do with vampires. he killed some cult kid's paretns me: anyone yuo know? Mom: NO! of course not! me: then why do i care? Mom: well you have those vampire books, and that movie... and the way you dress. are you in a vampire cult? me: yes, and im late for a virgin bloodletting ceremony. Mom: im not kidding! me: well i am. back off! Mom: i want all that stuff out of my house me: yea i'll get right on that, after i kill the neighbors and drink thier blood Mom: {{SMACK}} yea, i never could pass up a chance to egg my stepmother on....
Moonlight_Phantasy Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 My Mom was always cool with it. As a matter fact, thats all she wears is black. Now my stepmother, thats another thing. She would never let me wear what I wanted to wear, and I often snuck my spiked collar to school just to wear it. For Halloween one year I covered my face in blood and spray-colored my hair bright red and wore it to school. She said I was sick and needed my head examined. My Friend and I as well as a small handful of others were the only goth groups. We were often asked if we were Satan Worshippers or Vampire Wannabes. Because I couldnt wear what I wanted I was known as the Goth Trapped in Preppy Clothes.
