Brenda Starrr Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Oh God, we're so sad. Our new cat, Bob, had to go to a new home today. He and Trixie weren't getting along, no matter what we tried. It got so bad that he put a gash in her back. We had no other choice. My kids are so sad right now, it's not even funny. We all cried. On the bright side, he went home with an employee of The National Aquarium of Baltimore! She's wonderful! She's been emailing me to let me know what Bob is doing in his new surroundings. Bob seems very happy there, and Michelle loves him. So does her dog. Bob will always be with us. At least for a while, anyway. He got Sunshine pregnant before he left.
Brenda Starrr Posted October 23, 2005 Author Posted October 23, 2005 Yeah. At least he got along with Sunshine. Looks like we're having babies.
Lilith Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 yeah baby kitties........ I know probally more hassel then its worth but i love baby kitties any how.......... Just like people sometimes cats just dont click..... it odd wh they dont esoecailly wehn othr click so fast with no ease......
Homicidalheathen Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Yah I know how you feel. Been two years since I got rid of a bully cat. He was tormenting the other one so he had to go. But I still miss him. Post pics of kitties when they arrive ok?
Fierce Critter Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Poor Brenda. But at least you found him a great home. Right now, Asia, the 5th senior cat & a Siamese, is on probation. She's taken on a new behavior - chasing and intimidating Ripley, our most senior & alpha cat. Asia has always been anti-social with us Pinkies (humans) almost 100%, and with a lot of the cats to a large degree, too. But I'm always loathe to give up a cat if they at least have a happy home. But Ripley came first, and I will NOT have Ripley agitated. So if Asia doesn't get over this, I will have to find her a new home. As for the kittens, have fun!!! YOUR turn!! Bwaa-haa-haa!!!
holliwood66 Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Oh, so happy that Bob found a new good home~ So difficult when the new kitty doesn't get along with the rest of the fam. Mr. Sparkles is not liking my house right now and has been cheating on us with the neighborhood...so he is hardly ever around. Strangely enough, a new kitty appeared on my porch 2 weeks ago and seems to have no inclination to leave. We've been calling her "Weenie-II" as she kind of looks like PH's kitty...heh.
Lilith Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 LOL i was just thinking as much as i love baby kitties it is good Brenda is in another state....yeah iam a succor for new baby kitties.......that i cant afford...... would love to see pics they apease the baby kitty needs..........
Brenda Starrr Posted October 26, 2005 Author Posted October 26, 2005 I'll definitely take pics when they're born. We're so excited about it! I already have 2 people from Sierra's school that want one. If a black one is born, it's mine.
Fierce Critter Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 I have 3 full black femals, and one slight tuxedo male. Black cats are the shit. They really do come with different attitudes. They rule, and they know it. 'Specially the females. Somebody posted on my local Freecycle group that they have a black&white female with a broken tail. GOAWD!!!! I WANT HER!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 14 BAAAAAD!!!!!!!!!! 15 CAUSE FOR INSTITUTIONALIZATION!!!!!!!!!! :cat::cat: :cat::cat: :cat::cat:
Brenda Starrr Posted October 27, 2005 Author Posted October 27, 2005 Aww, FC....Go for it. She needs you.
Fierce Critter Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 I would, but I'm already nearly overwhelmed. Having that many cats around in general isn't really bad at all. They make it easy to keep heating bills low. But the litterbox cleaning, having places to put multiple boxes, and the cost of food (when you buy better quality like we do) and scoopable litter is a major consideration. There comes a point where you have to really consider how much the cats themselves are benfitting/suffering from being in a home with so many others. If one gets sick, they all get sick - can you afford to treat ALL of them? If not, then they all suffer. Not fair. No, I'll let someone else rescue this one, and any more that come after. I still need homes for 2 or 3 of the ones I brought back!!! Right now, they're enjoying an extended foster life with us. And chances are, we'll never be able to find good homes for them. So just no more room.
pomba gira Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 I'm so glad you could find a good home for your kitty... those bad pet situations can be heartbreaking. We had to have a kitty (the grandma of my current 3) put to sleep 'cos she started attacking us extremely viciously with no warning whatever... we were terrified to even be in the same room with her. We think it was probably the feline version of postpartum depression... but at the time we had no idea what to do, & a 1-bedroom apt. is too small to share w/a completely psycho kitty. Forgive us, GrisGris... we still miss you. & Fierce Critter you are absolutely right about having more cats than you can care for... one of the worst moments in my life was when the vet told me Chango (poisoned by mean neighbor lady) would have a better chance (as opposed to almost none) of surviving if we could hospitalize him for a few days... which there was no way we could afford at the time. We had 6 or 7 kitties at that point... I felt like complete & total worthless shit. Chango pulled thru somehow (& is at this moment telling me it's time to go to bed)... but I'll never again have more pets than I can reasonably care for. I never want to feel that way again.
Homicidalheathen Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 14 BAAAAAD!!!!!!!!!! 15 CAUSE FOR INSTITUTIONALIZATION!!!!!!!!!![/color Yah your going to be one of those nutty old ladies someday who talks to her cats. LOL OH, I am already there myself.......but my man keeps me down to 1-3 at a time.
Fierce Critter Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 my man keeps me down to 1-3 at a time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Do NOT let Jon bullshit you if he tries. He's easily responsible for at LEAST half the cats in this house. He loves dogs, but he is a total "cat person" in denial. Ah, he knows he's become a "cat person". He smiles when I jibe him about it. I almost budged on my stance yesterday. Someone on Freecycle posted a "sve this kitty or it goes to the pound at 1:00" message, just 'cause the cat was too noisy at night. CAN YOU SAY IGNORAMOUS? She is probably in heat. He didn't get back with me to answer me as to whether or not she's been tested for FIV/FIL, WITH vet proof, so I had to let it go. I wouldn't have kept her. Would have found someone to adopt her. But I was 50/50.
