Better connection

I need to decide soon on something. What is better? Cable or Dish TV? I also need to get internet access with them. Tell me who you think would give the better deal while still having high speed internet access.

Ive had experiences with both. I like cable. Less hassle and less likely to cut out.

I've heard many more complaints about dish. (Plus the upload speed is usually horrible, similar to dialup).

I love my cable.

Go with cable. It does not go out during storms like satellites can, and it is faster. Especially if you ever play online games.

Go with cable. Even sucky cable is better than the dish.

FYI: upload on satellite IS dialup.

Actually, the upstream is rarely dialup anymore. Depending on how much your willing to spend you can get as much as a 256k upstream. The problem is ping time. Though the connection speed, upstream and downstream are fast.... ping times are horrible at best. This really only affects gamers though.

Unless your dish service offers DSL, you are using a type of dial up for uploads, dish service if they offer internet is good for downloads only, you cannot do uploads thru satellite dishes unless you plan on spend mucho dollars on the special equipment needed for sending an outward signal.

Perhaps you should give Dishnetwork or Directway a call.... they dont use modems for upload anymore.. nor DSL.. the dish does the upstream. Thats why the equipment costs $400-600.

From Directway's FAQ:

11) Q: Do I still need a dial-up modem and telephone line?

A: No. There is no phone line or dial-up data modem required to use your DIRECWAY service.

results: I went ahead and ordered W.O.W. It seems to offer the best deal and quite a few opitions. The only thing I don't like so far is the wait til Sat to get the connection. It should be worth it.
