Kilpatrick vs Hendrix

The Detroit elections are almost upon us. Who would you vote for if you could between Kwame Kilpatrick and Freman Hendrix. I myself can't vote on this topic because I do not have residence inside the city of Detroit, but I do work in the city often and pay Detroit tax because of this so I do have interest in the outcome of the November 8th election.

My pick is Freman Hendrix, but what is yours?

Hendrix.

There is never an optimum candidate, but I'm too old fashioned to be able to seperate the mans charactor (or in Kwame's case the lack of) from his potential.

The guys is a peice of shit, and a thug.

What does it matter...nothing is going to change unless the council is voted out too...

I work inside the city and in a very political organization..........................................................and must admit both choices are not really stellar candidates......but due to very personal inside news on the current mayor from a detroit police officer, I have to say ...................

HENDRICKS please take a seat in the mayors office.....

time for some change, lets hope it is good!

is this really even worthy of dicussion? would anyone here actually really vote for kwame?

the only votes kwame has are from his relatives and supporters, whom he has been supporting these past years on the backs of the tax payers. the sort of people who readily practices racism and yet all too readily play the race card and are mentally stuck in the coleman young era, which is in large part responsible for what a shit hole the city is today. but they dont care, because to them the world is black and white and as long as they are 'sticking it to whitey' it doesnt matter how much they drive their own city into the hole, because thats all whiteys fault too.

:devil Kwame is a P.O.S. Beacause of him my one uncle is going to lose his house because of eminant domaine, Plus because of garbage like this, Parking has been a serious problem in Detroit. Kwame is nothing but smegma.

this is a "post of the year" candidate.

I was very upset when the Belle Isle Aquarium closed and made a few posts about it here on DGN. There was a website with statistics on the city of Detroit and Kwame, I can't find the link now but basically crime has gone up since Kwame took over, the city's deficit has grown, unemployment has risen, the city's population has dropped, racial tension has risen, city serivces have been slashed, etc etc so why the fuck would anyone vote for this guy?

He hires his friends and family on the city payroll.

He may be connected to a murder of a prostitute. Fired the guy investing him.

http://www.freep.com/news/locway/bowman7e_20051007.htm

Spends tax money (while cutting city jobs and services) on personal luxury items:

....including the infamous navigator

http://www.wxyz.com/wxyz/ys_investigations...3567346,00.html

His bodyguard shoved a channel 7 reporter who questioned Kwame on some of this stuff:

http://www.detnews.com/2005/metro/0507/17/metro-249448.htm

"The mayor recently took out a radio spot again denying old rumors of a wild party at the mayoral mansion, and apologizing for what he called mistakes: the city's $24,995 lease of a luxury SUV for his wife and three young sons, and thousands of dollars in questionable credit card spending -- much of it on luxuries while traveling.

He's personally paid back nearly $9,000 of the charges and says many of them are being disputed.

"If the stories didn't focus on him and the champagne and the SUV, people would blame the state and the general economy," Sarpolus said. "But when it happens on your watch and you look like you're not watching, you get blamed."

The city's cable commission also has taken to the television airwaves to combat criticism.

It helped produce a piece attacking in-your-face investigative reporter Steve Wilson of WXYZ-TV, who has dogged the mayor. In January, Wilson set off a sensation by breaking the story of the leased red Lincoln Navigator, right around the time the mayor announced big bus service cuts.

Kilpatrick initially denied that the vehicle was for his wife, and police said it was for undercover use. But Wilson pointed to the police lights mounted inside, and the city eventually admitted it was for the mayor's wife and three young sons.

Wilson has followed the mayor across the country, and the feud has become physical. A mayoral bodyguard shoved him. Wilson even bought a first-class plane ticket so he could sit near Kilpatrick and interview him with a handheld camera.

The mayor has called it harassment and implied that the media is out to get him. And his father had to apologize in May after comparing the media's treatment of his son to Nazi propaganda. "

And why the hell is Sharon Mcphail supporting Kwame? She's no Kay Everett, this is fact.

The mayor previous to Coleman Young jr did a good job, its too bad our warped political system doesn't let the competant mayors retain thier offices longer.

States need to centralize thier leadership better , there is way too many "chief's" sitting around in cities. Its time to completely sweep out the trash thats currently running things. IE 1. Dissolve all city councils in all state cities

2. Periodic governor and senate reviews instituted for all mayors

3. Remove mayoral elections, instead they will be chosen thru a

Governor and state senate candidate list of qualified people

4. Qualified people may apply for this job like any other but

must be a state resident of a certain time length

The current leadership needs to be completely removed from Detroit, no exceptions. Send in the military like we did Iraq and setup a garison till the new changes take effect if there is any unrest.....hopefully it wouldn't be necessary.

If the government can convince millions that Iraq is a good idea, than it should be easy to do it for each American city one at a time.

Basically I think the State needs to take a more active role in how each of its cities are managed.

I just read that alot of the younger "hip hop" generation are going to vote for him.
