It's not exact mind control, but really just 'screw with equilibrium' control. It just sort of interferes with your normal sensation of balance. To make you go right, it tricks your body into thinking you're fall left, and vice versa.

Sort of like I could 'control' your blinking by blowing in your eyes, or 'make' you extend your leg by tapping the tendon below your knee cap. More advanced of course, but still just playing with bodily reflexes/homeostasis.
