Once I was an alien. I painted my face and neck green, made a pair of antenae out of springs and green fuzzy pom poms on the ends stuck to a green head band. I sprayed my long hair green. I wore a green turtle neck and leggings and green fuzzy slippers with green socks. Then I took a good strong thick piece of elastic band and made a collar. To that I tied hundreds of 4ft pieces of green fuzzy yarn all the way around. I looked like cousin it the alien. I won a 3rd place prize of free pizza.

Halloween 00' I went as a Witch doctor. I made a paper masque (sp?) vodoo mask, bought some womens leapord print painties as my bottoms and wore a burlap sack cut into strips as kind of a waist cincher. Then I took chicken bones and other oddies and cleaned and dried them and made jewerly out of it, (necklace and wrists bracelets). I painted up my body in tribal patters and got fox fur pelts left over from a tanner to go over my shoulders back. The costume was great and everyhting went well togther. I might have to recycle that idea again son as I still have pieces of it laying around incorporated into other things.

The most extensive one I made was the robot costume senior year of college.

That's quite impressive... but it must've been a pain in the wazoo to get drunk in. Reminds me of a bed costume I saw a guy wearing once... headboard, matress & all. It ended up in the bonfire by the end of the night.

As for me I don't think I've ever had an especially imaginative costume... I think I was just Death all thru my 20s (not the traditional Reaper version- closer to the Sandman version ). The weird thing was how many people would genuinely freak when I tapped them with my wand & said "shed your skin & be reborn".

can't say i have ever really had a "good" one

but.. my friend on the other hand-

one year she was chinese food. she dressed as a cat and wore a chinese food take out container over that. i thought that was the funniest thing ever.

when i was a kid my mom dressed me in this black and white stripped sweater of hers and then did my face with black and white stripes. it was one of those last minute things. i was a zebra i guess. so i went door to door and people kept saying what are you? what are you? one guy thought i was an inmate. i really hated that year. :laughing

Robert Smith. Yep - of The Cure. I put on a sorta sad, wrinkly black jacket over a sad, wrinkly, long white shirt, black jeans, big, unlaced white sneakers, ratted my hair all to hell, did some theatrical make-up to give myself a slight cleft chin, eyeliner & smeared lipstick.

Used some temporary hair dye to turn my blonde brunette, and even wrapped my boobs so I'd be flat-chested. Wish I had pics.

That was when The Witch's Ball was held at St. Andrew's. It went over great. But I got drunk and started doing a really bad imitation of Robert's voice. Things got especially bad when one of the free newspapers in the back of the club turned out to have an article on The Cure. I started taking it around with me, showing it to people and telling them everything they got wrong about "me" in the article.

Ahh, fun...

All my costumes as a child were homemade by my sister, a fantastic creative-type. I've posted pics of me in the costumes a couple times already in other threads, so you've probably already seen them.

I USED to go. In the early 90's. When they switched it to Industry, I stopped going.

One year, when my parents were really broke, my mom dressed my sister and I as garbage bags. We wore Hefty bags, filled with newspaper, and duct taped around the legs. My sister kept losing her newspaper, while mine stayed completely in tact. It was funny stuff.

This year, it was held in Warren at a rented hall. I almost went but didn't have $30 to get in. That was for food and bar. There's gonna be one held by a local group to me next weekend somewhere in the Downriver area.
