TELEMARKETERS IN NOVEMBER

Recommended Posts

My friends, this is something that I have come across already and I am sure you will all be as upset as I am.

This was in the paper just today.

In LESS THAN 31 days from today, cell phone numbers are being released to

telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sale calls. YOU WILL

BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS.

These Telemarketers will eat up your free minutes and end up costing you

money in the long run. To prevent this, call the following number from your

cell phone: 888/382-1222. It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only

take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5)

years.

You can register on line at:

www.donotcall.gov/ http://www.donotcall.gov

or if you are like me, don't answer calls that not come up on ur caller ID.

I have heard this scare at least 4 or 5 times before. And I have heard that this list is actually trying to spam you.... It was the same url.

Urban legend.

I never answer unknown calls during the day on my cell phone anyway; if it's important, they'll leave a message.

Yes the list is real, I just meant the rumor that cell phone numbers will be specifically "released" to telemarketers is not.

Yes... and there is very little chance that telemarketers will in the near future have any power to call you on cellphones, and have you charged for it.

Right... and any telemarketing company with any sense whatsoever would understand this is a terrible idea, since most people pay for their daytime incoming calls.

I just wanted to try to provide a site link in which was not a spoof, since i had already known from another source the list was Real........ and that you can add cell#'s if ya want....... Other wise i have no idea if the rest is true or not, i was not disputing anything really at all.

just fyi tho...

if your number is on the Do Not Call list, only marketers are to refrain from calling you. you may still get calls from survey takers or non-profit orginizations. they are expemt. my numbers been on the Do Not Call for a couple years now and when i kept getting survey callers i phoned the Do Not Call people to complain and that was the information they gave me.

it's better than nothing i suppose

The reason I don't have a landline is...just that.

I despise the idea of paying a monthly bill for the sole purpose of being the object of solicitations.

I haven't either. Just my two cells. One I use strictly for mobile to mobile which is on someone else's account for a whole whooping $5 a month, the other one is my Sprint PCS phone that I use for everything else. Both together is still cheaper than my landline I had.

Thanks my man has yet to do this.
