There's a dealer at Gibraltar Trade Center in Taylor that sells thing from China. She has Kimono Robes, Wall decorations and such. And another dealer with Oriental hanging lamps, the paper ball ones with writing on them

There is an Asian store at the mall in Auburn Hills, Southgate in Taylor. There is a cool furniture store off of Telegrpah going north before 5 mile rd on the right side. The lady that works at the Gibralter Trade center is alos very nice:)

Burlington Coat Factory had (has?) these reproductions of Japanese dolls that are surprisingly well done.

My sister is decorating an entire room with authentic Japanese items, and I've picked up some of her best pieces for her at yard sales, including a genuine wedding kimono (paid $25, it goes for well over $200 on eBay), and a couple of those dolls, but original ones, for $5 & $20 each.

The dolls they have at Burlington are done in the same style & dress as the original ones my sister has. And they include male figures, which I don't see often in the originals. I don't recall the prices. The main difference I could see between the repros and the authentic ones are the original ones' heads were made of some kind of soft form with fabric over them. The repros are done in plastic or resin of some kind, with either glossy painted or actual glass eyes - I was amazed at the quality.

If you stood the original next to the repro, you'd see some differences. But overall, I thought they were excellent. Worth a look-see to see if they still have them (saw them about 3 weeks ago).
