So, is there any music you do like to listen to this time of year?

In heavy rotation for us are Vince Guraldi's music from the Peanuts Christmas Special, a CD of Dean Martin Christmas songs, a few featuring mainly acoustic guitar versions of classics, and lots of stuff from artists like Nat King Cole, Mel Torme, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and the like.

I have a Goober & the Peas Christmas Ep I listen to a little. And some music box stuff. But that doesn't get played all that much.

I love the song "Baby its cold outside" it is such a twisted song if you think about it.

The guy is trying to get the girl to let him stay and shes all like No you gotta leave my parents will be mad and all he can think about is "gee your lips look delicious".

I got a great version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman done by Jimmy Smith that all crazy and organ jazz. Think loungey organ sound kicked up with lots of brass, tubas and other baratones, on it. Its really freakin cool

Other than that i cant stand the stuff. workin in retail will destroy ones tolerance for xmass tunes.

Type-O Negative's- "Red Water" does come to mind though for good seasonal songs hehe

King Diamond's "No Presents For Christmas"

Type O Negative's "Red Water" (Christmas Mourning)"

I have a few cd's intitles "Merry Axemas" that has everyone from Zakk Wylde to Steve Vai on it.

Much of the Trans-Seberian Orchestra is pretty good too.

You mean for Christmas because it is a way off?

I like native American and trance in November. I also get nastalgic and listen to Metal as it was in November 1982 that I officially became a metal head.

Weird How I remember that milestone :blink

I like Charlotte Church and Enja around Christmas. :blushing

I don't like any of it. At a point in time I liked it. One song that I can name off the top of my head is Silent Night. A serene soulfull song that is song from the heart.

The over used, two month long marathon in stores and on the radio has killed this for me, Basically by the time i get in to my own holiday spirit which will happen some time the week after T.G. will probably be the only time I enjoy any Christmas Music, and that will come from the music boxes i pull out and remember hearing as i was child. The occasional song will strike me but to have a list of must heres is None, i have already heard it all 45 times while Grocery shopping.

Thanks to Greedy People who force the stuff on us no matter where we are, I hardly have the warm snuggly feeling it once gave me. It used to be a treat to here a Christmas song, something you waited for, and when you finally heard it the joy would swell up and the fuzziness would grow. It made you happy and you would want to go around and Spread Joy and Cheer, that no longer happens, the music is no longer a sign of joy but a sign of Capitalism, greed, stress, rude people etc......... Perhaps the Lack of Joy and warmth and good tidings around this time of year has been Deadened by over using the symbols we relate to this Wonderful Holiday, Kind of like that new song on the Radio you love but once you heard it once an hour every day for the last two weeks you kind of hate it. Yeah that’s how I feel.

Sorry this was bummer post

My favorite Holiday song is 'O Holy Night"

It's just beautiful!

I enjoy listening to old.old christmas music.

Nat King Cole

Bing Crosby

Perry Como

Frank Sinatra

I've always thought Bing Crosby was the best. I still enjoy "White Christmas" (both the movie and the song). God, that guy had an amazing voice. And he just had such a classy image...

I was always fond of ICP's "Santa's A Fat Bitch" :grin

To listen to, I'm not really a fan of any of it. "Carol of the Bells" does kick ass though, as does anything by Manheim Steamroller (sp?).

What I do love however is singing Christmas Carols. Ever since I was a kid I've loved going to church around Christmas and singing all of those hymns, carols, and such. I totally love singing and Christmas songs are easy, familiar, I know all the words and tunes so I can just belt them out in my golden baritone. I love it.

One of my dreams is to sing for a band someday but I suppose that's another post for another time.

Anyone familiar with Manhiem steamroller?

I hear it is good to listen to around this time of year.

Yep. I have Carol of The Bells by them.

Seriously -- it is the only christmas song I listen to.

My 1st graders are singing this pro feminist kinda song "Lets hear it for Mrs. Claus"

It's so funny. Last year they did "I want a hippopatumyus for Christmas". I playe dit for Sandee all the time and drove her mad.

Has anyone heard Peter Murphy and Tom Waites do "Christmas sucks"?

I might play that if I spin at Diesel

Micheal Crawford (( the voice of the ORIGINAL Phantom for Phantom of the Opera )) sings a BEAUTIFUL "O Holy Night"

I also love listening to the Trans-Siberian orchestra and their renditions of "God Rest Ye, Merry Gentleman" which melds into "Carol of the Bells"

Those songs just always get me.

I enjoy listening to Christmas music, but yes, the marathon at malls and certain radio stations gets a little old. I prefer playing it on the CD player instead (( Hell, even the Cruxshadows got into the Christmas spirit and did a John Lennon cover of "Happy Christmas"........ they did a DAMN good job on it too and I thank Spook for sending me the song ))

I also love that ol', catchy tune......

"I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas"

As annoying as it is, it's also catchy and entertaining too. =3
