Scary Guy Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Yes oh joyus happy day where the white man gets to rub it in the native american's faces that we have their land, yet again. I'm part indian so I have some mixed feelings about the holiday
Brenda Starrr Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 I'm not rubbing jack into anyone's face. I'm having dinner with my family.
Rayne Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 I am part indian (Cherokee actually), we don't really celebrate Thanksgiving.
Homicidalheathen Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Oh good lordy they ate big bird! I was under the impression from a few of my Native American freinds that they had some sort of celebration this time of year but don't remember what it was called. I am not in touch with that part of my roots. My real grandpa disappeared. So your saying all of the stories of the Native Americans inviting us to their celebratory table.......with pumpkins....corn......ect.....is not true. That would not surprise me however.

We made dinner for the family when my half sister came into the picture (I was 10), up until she started doing her own with her family (I was about 15), but my mother did it out of respect for my father (who is not Native American).
Homicidalheathen Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Me thinks me will be doing some online research today. I love the internet!

Brenda Starrr Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 For us, it's just an excuse to get together with our family. We don't do it as some tradition, we just.....do it. All I keep in mind is that tomorrow, all Hell breaks loose. Retail management is fun. :blink
Msterbeau Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 I'm in Canada... I missed their Thanksgiving by a month so no big celebration here. BUT... I'm still keeping in mind how greatful I am for the blessing of good friends, healthy children and a generally reasonable life. Some have it much worse. I'm also grateful to be able to come spend this time with family I haven't seen in a while. That is all. Enjoy your pigouts...
Rayne Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Regardless if I celebrate this holiday or not, I am reminded how grateful I am for my children, my friends, my stable health.......(the most important things).... ......Oh and cars. I can't forget cars. I am very grateful for cars, which occupy a lot of my time and keep me happy.
Reaper Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Bah Humbug! I also have cherokee/blackfoot indian in my blood. I am the only dark traits from the indian side of my family which is my great grandmother. The rest of my family is blonde haired blue eyed. But I still pig out for Thanksgiving regardless of who I am or what it means. Just gimme the fuckin Punkin Pie bitch! Going to my moms today first, then over to my best friends house in Taylor. "Oh, your mom is having stove top stuffing at your house too?"
