OKay so i work at Tubby's. Im the Asst Mgr. Its quiet. Its calm. Nothing really exciting happens usually. Last night i was working and I had a couple of highschool kids there too, as is usual in the afternoon. This guy, probably in his early-mid 40's, comes in and from the moment he opened his mouth to order he was loud, crude and obnoxious. And he thought he was just the funniest person. Doing my job, i smiled. said hello, how are you? how can i help? He ordered and said it was 'for here' so i rang everything up, took his money and handed him his change. As soon as i handed him his changed i began to walk away (i was in the middle of doing something) and this nutcase reaches across the counter and violently grabs at my right wrist, as soon as he has a grip on it he wrenches it over so that my hand is facing upwards. Instinctually i almost hit this prick because i was totally caught off guard. He asked me if the tattoo on my wrist is a stamp, a drawing, or a tattoo. Extreemly annoyed he is still holding on to me i replied its a tattoo and began trying to pull my arm away, but he wouldnt let go. he ranted and bitched about my tattoo. he said 'what the hell is that supposed to be?' and i said it's a moon and star. being a cancer the moon is my ruling planet. I honestly dont remember the rest of what he said because as soon as he started talking again i began talking over him telling him he needed to let me go, but the gist of it is he said my tattoo is a communist symbol. or im a socialist for having it. he said something about "kids and fucking nazis these days" he was really really irate. it was, by my estimate, almost two minutes before he actually let me go and another five minutes of him calling me various names and me telling him exactly what i thought of his bullshit before he finally left. at one point i had said i would be calling the police to have him removed if he didnt leave and he responed with something like 'if you touch the phone ill rip it out of the wall, ill show you what communism is all about' or something to that degree. needless to say i was fuming for the rest of the day.

honestly i am the most even tempered calm person when having a customer bitch or scream in my face. i was customer service at target for a few years, it was my job for people to bitch at me. i worked as asst mgr at taco bell, again it was my job to take care of people who wanted to bitch. but it is an *entirely* different thing when you put you hands on me. ive NEVER in all my years of working with the public raised my voice back at a customer, cuz its not worth it to fight with them. you smile, do you job, and then they leave and you go on with your day. but this ass *grabbed* me and it was all just reaction from that point on.

If I was you, I'd call the police anyways and make a report. If this is a regular customer... he shouldn't be anymore. Do you have a security cam? That would obviously have all the evidence you need to back up your story.

If nothing else you'll have the police report as a record if he does come back, and they may pay more attention when they see that there has been a previous complaint.

Sorry to hear about that lunatic, Crazed. The guy was probably on something. I also hope that you file a police report. No one deserves to get treated like that, especially on a misinterpretation. Something tells me you aren't the first person he's harrassed.

Oh, I know for a fact it happens, but just me personally -

I have been harassed, physically threatened, shoved, verbally assaulted and more in small redneck southern towns.

Give me Detroit over the deep south any day. Any place below the Mason-Dixon line scares the hell out of me.

With that said though, I hope they find this guy and at least give him a warning.

Were you working alone? I have friends who work in similar places and even for the same company as you. They usually have at least 2 people working at all times as a security measure. This is very much assult and he didn't let go for some time. I am glad you are ok.

I went and filed the police report. had to do a bunch of crap with giving them the security tapes and info and calling the two girls who were working to make statements. but like as so many others pointed out, maybe this will keep the nutjob from getting away with something else!

I would have been fired because I would have hurt the guy and started screaming. You know if someone grabs your wrist if you just twist it comes free then you whack them in the front of the neck real hard to hurt the wind pipe.....see why I don't work with the public anymore? I got fired for throwing pop on someone once.....for yelling.....for stomping on a toe....Coarse I was a dancer and you have to get mean sometimes when the bouncer is a lazy fat ass.

*smiles* when i went back and read where i wrote "At CC i kinda blend into the background and watch people go about their nites." it came out sounding much more whiney than i intended. i didnt mean like 'boo hoo poor me' or anything. i just meant i go in, get a drink and usually wander the club from bar to dance floor and back. i drink i dance a little and usually end up talking to one or two random people and i spend much the rest of the night just sitting quietly off to the side. People like that just need to be shot. I've worked at couple restaraunts before and dealt with similar crap. This is why I hate dealing with customers.
