Crazed Vampyress Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 My apartment is painted grey and black. i have gothic mirrors and candleholders on the walls, creepy trees, tombstone candles... if asked what my decorating tastes are i always answer 'everything halloween' so today i decided to pull out all the stops and finally clean up the house, a friend even came over to help and im treating him to dinner later as a thank you. he's vacuuming while i clean the litter box, change the rat cage, do the dishes, folded my clean laundry as i picked up the dirty (i tried to get him to do all the laundry but he refused to pick up my dirty unmentionables haha) and i looked at the cobwebs in the corner and the dust collected on my black candles and hanging cauldrons and then a wonderful thought occured to me.. I dont have to dust. Every single cobweb and dustball in every corner of every shelf goes amazingly well with the decor. Wonderful! one less thing for me to do! The thought at the time it hit me was so amusing i actually started laughing out loud. i then had to explain to my friend why i was suddenly in a fit of laughter and his response was simply "yea i knew you were lazy. you only decorated this way so that you could pull off the 'no dusting look'!" WELL i just thought id share my amusing anecdote for the day.

Wonderful! one less thing for me to do! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> sounds like you are on to something! i should decorate my house like yours so my mess and dust actually *goes* with the decor :laughing
Brenda Starrr Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 I'm not goth enough to keep the cobwebs and dust.
Head Wreck Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 if i had a house i could do that to i would. nearly did once rent this huge detached house in a row of tarraces that you had to crane your neck up to look at the front doof from the pavement/road, let alone the upper floors. i think that would have been OTT to do that after the one dark stone house in a row of cream houses
Msterbeau Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 The designer in me would be very confused. *Weighs cobwebs going with decor vs. cleanliness over and over and over again*
gothicmom Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 dont have to dust. Every single cobweb and dustball in every corner of every shelf goes amazingly well with the decor. Becareful! We also felt this way, now we all have allergies!
Crazed Vampyress Posted December 11, 2005 Author Posted December 11, 2005 HaHaHa.. Really I'm not that bad. Ive never been one to go all crazy with the dusting every inch of every shelf and the ceiling and all that, but i *DO* actually clean my house when Im cleaning my house. i took a light dust to everything (one of those static-cling duster thingys) so i got a bunch of it up. i did leave one cobweb above the window. its jus cool looking there. but you have to admit, it would have been a pretty good explanation for why i never dusted!
Lilith Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 i have often wanted to live in an old creepy castle just for this reason, the cob webs go so well! Or when ever you watch a movie that has a Home of the Dreary Charateer in view it was allways dusty and full of webs... I allways wanted a dreary characters home cause it seemed like they never had to clean, they just ignored it or what not and all was peachy. Ughhhh Or just to have a wand or a bunch of bewitched Brooms would be nice :whistling
Homicidalheathen Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 Yah, would work for me except that I am allergic to dust. Road dust is bad but house dust makes me sneeze uncontrollably and cough until my throat and chest hurt. You should have seen me in AZ all red all the time.
Scary Guy Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 Dusting always reminds me of that movie that Adam Ant was in where he played a vampire "Love Bites" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107448/ (yeah I didn't know he acted either till I saw the credits). Anyhow his "place of rest" looked awesome untl it got dusted, then it looked like a complete trainwreck, like something that crazy bitch from Trading Places would have come up with.

Annoys the hell out of me....... especially that "crazy bitch" LOL i thought i was the only one who thought so.
Msterbeau Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 Which crazy bitch are we talking about here?
Crazed Vampyress Posted December 11, 2005 Author Posted December 11, 2005 so i did all that cleaning yesterday and went to work this morning. when i got home i walked into my living room and thought, what would it look like right now if i had actually removed all the dust and whatnot... im sticking with what i got... any large dust bunnies or seriously threatening looking dirt is to be removed... but the light dust covering my candles just suits them all too well! This is what it looks like.
Head Wreck Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 maybe i should think about doing that, but with fake haloween effort cobwebs

DarkVampire Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 I can't keep dust, it causes havok to my sinuses.
Homicidalheathen Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 You have an awesome decor but......the longer you live with dust.....the greater your chances of developing an alergy and have you seen a dust mite up close? They look gross! Like frickin aliens!
Crazed Vampyress Posted December 12, 2005 Author Posted December 12, 2005 maybe i should think about doing that, but with fake haloween effort cobwebs <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I had those up for quite a while! but they too after a couple years got covered in dirt and dust so finally in the name of cleaning i had to let them go. You have an awesome decor but......the longer you live with dust.....the greater your chances of developing an alergy and have you seen a dust mite up close? They look gross! Like frickin aliens! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yea i know the dust ends up detrimental. so all the dust is gone, and all but one of the cobwebs. i took those pics before cleaning it all out. I have seen pics of dustmites, and i totally agree! they're mad-crazy looking things!
kellygrrrrrl Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 For looks and stuff....that might work, but it is so bad for you. Dust Mites, Could develope allergies, or aggravate the ones you have and / or other people's, Asthma could develope, or irritate it if you have it/or other's, Dust can ruin electronics (Your Computer) etc..... I am nerotic when it comes to dust and dirt. I guess you could sayu I am obsessive about cleanliness! I have used cotton cob webs ratehr than real ones, and rubber spiders for looks! - Just an idea!
Draco1958 Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 If you lived closer I would have helped with the cleaning. Even would have handled all the laundry. Just would have bout 1 thing first, prewash spray for laundry. I do the laundry here and my niece is glad, old tooth brush for a scrubber and the prewash spray and everything comes clean. I even fold the laundry (brag brag). My apartment is painted grey and black. i have gothic mirrors and candleholders on the walls, creepy trees, tombstone candles... if asked what my decorating tastes are i always answer 'everything halloween' so today i decided to pull out all the stops and finally clean up the house, a friend even came over to help and im treating him to dinner later as a thank you. he's vacuuming while i clean the litter box, change the rat cage, do the dishes, folded my clean laundry as i picked up the dirty (i tried to get him to do all the laundry but he refused to pick up my dirty unmentionables haha) and i looked at the cobwebs in the corner and the dust collected on my black candles and hanging cauldrons and then a wonderful thought occured to me.. Draco1958 Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Once my work hours settle and I get my own transportation, I'd be willing to come out and help.
Scary Guy Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 dust is dust-mite poop <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for the reminder.
