Homicidalheathen Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 So a few years ago I almost died. My doctor suggested I try pot for the spasms, inflamation and pain in my guts as a result of my condition. I did not get a med prescrip, it just draws negative attention. To you and your doctor but he said he might be willing to do that for me. I read about people in wheel chairs getting busted. And doctors. So I am trying to get new insurance. Well they went through my old records and denied me! They found something out about it someplace. So even though I don't smoke tobbacco or anything else I have to find a more expensive carrier. I just think it is fucked. And heaven forbid I should get sick now as I have no Coverage. I almost had to go to the emergency room once last week. Would have broken us financially. You would think they would be more understanding given my condition. I guess suffering is not enough of a reason to need it. No matter how bad the suffering is. All I know is, it works without giving me constipation or heart palpitations like the prescription alternative.
Rayne Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 Insurance companies are not understanding, period. I'm still battling with a major carrier over some bills left over from my car accident three years ago. I get cancelled from my insurance I have now everytime I turn around because of "pre-existing conditions" ... injuries from the car accident that will never heal, and severe Anemia. I always get it reversed, but there's usually a few months time there where I have no insurance, have to pay out of pocket, then get reimbursed later. It doesn't help our insurance now is shitty.
Homicidalheathen Posted December 25, 2005 Author Posted December 25, 2005 Yah, they legally cannot really site me for the pot but can for the pre exhisting conditions clause we did not notice. So my Ins. guy just gives me the number for Blue cross, gee.....thanks guy. I could not have thought of THAT on my own. WTF??? I have not been seriously ill for 2 years and hardly ever go to the doctor anymore. Since having the surgeries I am so much better. But still they hold this against me. So paying out of pocket for our family of 4 will cost us 800 a month now instead of 500. What do they think, that people will never get sick? They make a ton of money off of you even if you do! Just add it up! Most people don't get that sick very often and they know this and count on this and make a ton of money off of you. So this other lady we know that is now in buisness with my man is going through the same, company. She was not denied for high blood presure. I guess it is more common maybe.....but Divers and Colitis is just not that well understood yet. I do feel discriminated against. I just had to rant. We really need government medical in a rich country such as ours. Even the poor don't deserve to suffer.
DisturbedMania Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 BC/BS is the most laid back about pre-existing conditions. With the 65+ crowd there is never a medical exam or health questions. It's just the easiest to get.
