Anyone know of any local to the Downriver area other than Detroit. I have heard of one in Allen Park called The Chatterbox but can't find any info. My niece goes to one called The Modern Exchange but looking for others for her. Just doing what a good Uncle should do since she's upset that I can't take her to CC or the Lab.

My old band played at the Wired Frog, but they're not downriver. Off the top of my head, I can't think of where they are.

"Safe" is so questionable.

When I was living with my parents and first started hanging out at places in Detroit, they were having fits about my "safety". I never once experienced anything negative in all that time.

But I finally got tired of their worrying and gave a downriver club a try for a change. And my first - and only - night there, I ended up locking myself in the bathroom to stay out of the bloody fight that broke out, blocking my exit from the club altogether.

Thanks, I'll take my Detroit/Hamtramck clubs anytime.

She's 15.

FC, when I say safe, I'm referring to decent supervision. I understand fights can break out, I just want to know that at least it's supervised to try to reduce problems or the general mood isn't about cornering a girl and trying things. I know nothing can be 100% safe but looking for something that can be reasonbly considered safe.

The only way she's going to have that kind of safety is if you or someone else responsible FOR her is WITH her.

The kind of thing you describe can happen ANYWHERE. Staff members of any club can be, and frequently are, just as untrustworthy as the average scumbag who populates these places.

That would be the one. Too bad they closed. It could've been decent.

Token or whatever lounge.

My freind actually wanted our band to play there back in the day......that many teens scares me. :blink I almost couldn't believe he wanted to play there......but he was only 22.

They have live bands. I see their stuff in Metro times. But I think it is like 10 bucks to get in.

I think it's ridiculous that the cover price on teen nightclubs is so high (The Wired Frog was $10 as well). On the one hand, they don't sell alcohol which is where a club makes all of it's money (cover prices barely cover the entertainment) so they compensate by having a high cover. But there's gotta be a better way to turn a profit than raping them at the door.

Unfortunatly there don't seem to be alot of 'teen disco's' like there were in our day. With the cost of security and people not buying drinks, well it is not very profitable.

These all age shows....

More boys slamming into each other and coffee drinking than anything.

Not much dancing, my kids didn't like the music or the girls kissing.

hey! i'm one of those youngins that used 2 go to the frog 'back in the day" (and it is back in the day to me-- its almost a quarter of my lifetime ago lol ) and it was 7$ for admission to my recollection. they closed when i was 15 and i was rather distraught.

yes the wiredfrog is in the roseville theater now, but its more expensive and every person i know who went said it totally blowed. so i wont go.

and i STILL have to look around for all-ages clubs to get into, and i'm not finding much luck most of the time. i believe clutch cargos was having and may still be having 14-19 nights.... but i dont remember what nights these were and its way out in bfe pontiac...

There is one local to me called the modern exchange... www.themodernexchange.com

She goes there on friday nights, it looks like a decent place. Can't remember entry fee but if I remember right, it is under $10, around $5 to $7 and several bands a night.
