I'm looking to take a bunch of jewelry to a pawn shop but I don't know which one to go to or if one is better than another.

Can anyone suggest one for me pweez?

The one's in Downtown Detroit actually are pretty fair and don't ask questions......not that I would know.

if you are not in ah urry for the cash i would explore other option to sell the jewelry, pawn shops hardly give you anything close to what the actual value of the piece is.

I would also open up a phone book and start calling jewelery stores near you that Buy, they often give you a bit more then a pawn shop but still not nearly enough to make it worth getting rid of.

( i know certian circumstance make you not care how much you get as long as you get something, but i allways feel so let down after ward ya know)

Craigslist wil allow you to place free adds

That is true, Jewelry never gets a fair price in those places. If you can wait, place an ad.

Zhukov actually had, by far, the best suggestion.

And everyone else spoke wisdom, too.

You should shop around, if you really need to go the pawnshop route. Check out places that buy it with the intention of reselling it as-is. And also price places that buy it strictly for gold & stone value, intending to melt it down & reset the stone. You will find they can vary wildly.

I would recommend Garners Jewelery & Exchange on Eureka in Taylor. I know of a place on Michigan Avenue in Dearborn that I used to take things to, and they were VERY fair. I'd have to track the name down, however.

Let me know if you want me to do that.

Yeah, if you can thinik of the name of that place, it would be great!

Thanks to everyone else. I might just do the ebay thing as well.

I can't recall which one it was. Call both and ask which one buys gold. And if you want, just go to both, they should be pretty close to each other, and see what each offers you:

Phone: (313) 584-7430

AAA Diamonds & Gold
