Blackmail Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Since it looks like it's getting late in the fourth quarter and Sharon is down with an injury (and Arafat didn't even suit up for the game) I thought it would be a good time to see what DGNers think of the never ending conflict in the middle east. Personally, I wonder why the Jews use their healthy bodies to ruin perfectly good bombs made by poor Palestinian terrorists? The Palestinains are poor people who often go without food. Well if the Jews stopped throwing themselves on top of the Palestinians expensive explosives, then the Palestinians wouldn't have to replace the bombs and thus they could use that money for food. Plus the land belongs to Palestine. Remember the land was called Palestine before GW Bush bypassed the UN and bombed Iraq and called part of it Israel. Well that used to be called the Palestine Hotel. Rememhber? Now the Jews have an entire hotel. Knowing some of my Jewish friends, I bet they don't even tip the bellboys there. I used to like Benjamin Netinyahoo until he left his prime minister position to start netinyahoo.com, which is the best free email service there is by the way. They even tried to celebrate hannakuh in a public place over there, so I called the ACLU and we headed right over there and told those Israelites that they were unAmerican. Plus I think alot of what the Palestinians do is justified. The color of the Israeli flag is powder blue, you can't have a powder blue flag and not expect to get your ass kicked. Plus Arafat was the bomb. Literally. He was a terrorist and murderer but he still won a Nobel peace prize. That must mean that he did the most wonderful things for humanity ever, to make up for all the torture and killing. He made Gandi look like Jeffry Dahlmer. (get it?) So what are your views? Next up I might bring up the conflicts between Taiwan and Chine or perhaps give you an update on the game between India and Pakistan which just went into overtime.
The_Dark Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I have alot of thoughts on this subject... enough to cover 3000 years of conflict. lets just lay a few things about.... 1. The Oldest known map in the world is of this region. Isreal is clearly marked and noted that jews live there.. Isrealites. There is also a region called palistine... and it's noted that thats where you send people you banish. 2. For 3000 years, if an Arab country banished you, Palistine is where they sent you. 3. Palistine has NEVER been self ruled. Ever. 4. Isreal always has been. 5. Palistinians, under the lead of Arafat, defined moderen terrorism. 6. Isreal still has the only hydrolic fluid in the world that doesn't burn... we still need it.
ZhukovCodeslinger Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 The only reason why there are still "muslim" Palestinians is because they picked the one group in the world that would choose to think hard before setting out on a program of genocidal revenge after being the targets of years of terrorism. Had the Jews (about 1/2 of israel) not been the victims of the Nazis, I think we would be reading about what happened to the "poor palestinians" after the PLO provoked the Israelis.
Fierce Critter Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 I admit to being fully ignorant of everything having to do with this conflict. I don't understand it, and would need it put into very, very simple terms to be able to understand it. I know one side hates the other. I don't know what each side "stands" for. I don't know what each side wants. I don't know who/what/where/why. All I know is that is NOT an area I would ever go for a stress-free vacation.
Blackmail Posted January 11, 2006 Author Posted January 11, 2006 I admit to being fully ignorant of everything having to do with this conflict. I don't know what each side wants. I don't know who/what/where/why. All I know is that is NOT an area I would ever go for a stress-free vacation. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Let me try and simplify it, objectively. Well it is hard to simplify because both jews and arabs lived in this land since time was recorded. Ok many people owned the land including the Ottomans, Romans and most recently the British. The British rule was difficult because they were imperialist and did not treat the arabs in the land very well, and Jews started moving back to the land in the late 1800's to reconnect with their holy land. world war 2 caused many more jews to move back there. the arabs and jews were not getting along as the brits gave the jews special privelages that the arabs did not have. so rioting amongst jews and arabs occured. there was an arab uprising in the 1930's which the brits/jews ended pretty easily but they killed alot of innocent arabs in the process. something like 3,000 arabs were killed. world war 2 broke out and many more jews escaped europe and moved to the land. the british got sick of the fighting in the land between the jews and arabs and washed their hands of the region so they turned the land over to the UN. After ww2, in 1947 the United Nations had a plan to divide the land into two parts, one for the arabs and one for the jews. The arabs rejected this plan because they felt the land belonged to them and the jews were immigrants. so the arab guerrilla armies killed lots of innocent jews in protest of this UN plan. Then the jews retaliated by killing lots of innocent arabs. then right before they gave up the land, the british called the land "Israel" which is a hebrew word from the tora but I don't know what it means. So in 1948 the land was officially named Israel. A few days after Israel became an official state, many of the other arab countries did not like that their muslim brothers were treated unfairly (in their eyes) so Iraq, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon all attacked Israel at the same time, expecting to reclaim the land. But the Israeli Army kicked everyones ass. They had modern weapons and skilled troops. Not only did Israel keep their land, they conquered even more land including the west bank. since then the arabs have been poor, the israelis have been rich. the arabs feel that this land is rightfully theirs and they do suicide bombings....alot of them. they target crowded jewish areas like grocery stores or busses and they blow themselves up and take many innocent people with them. the jews retaliate by going after the terrorists and sometimes kill innocent people in the process. In the late 90's Bill Clinton went there and brokered a deal that would give the Arabs half of the land and even some money, the Jews reluctantly agreed to the deal but knew it was the only way to ending the conflict.....but Yassar Arafat said no thanks. Since then the terrorism has escalated. Currently Israel just gave some land back to the Palestinians in hope for some peace but everytime a peace deal seems to happen, some idiotic palestinians go and kills someone. Palestinians even try to kill other Palestinians who want peace. The PLO and Hammas are two Palestinian terrorist groups as well as Hezbollah, they even tried to kill Mahmoud Abbas, the current leader of Palestine, a centrist who wants peace. Israel has done some sketchy stuff in recent years as well, like building a wall to seperate the jews and arabs and arabs have to pass thru check points to get into many israeli cities. The jews argue that this is to prevent terrorism but many innocent arabs say this is unfair to have to be routinely frisked and searched just to move around the land that they feel they own. the prime minister of Israel, Ariel Sharone just had a stroke and he has been in a coma for about a week now. Arafat died about a year and a half ago. I side with the Jews. Why? - The Israeli Defence Force (the IDF) does not target innocent people. The Palestinians DO target innocent people. - The Jews are always accepting deals that would lead to peace. The Palestinians for the most part do not accept the peace deals. - Israel is a democracy and women are allowed to vote. The Palestinians have a very limited democracy and even the democracy part is new, and that is only because President GW Bush put pressue on them to head towards democracy, and the Palestinians knew they had to, to get any sort of a deal. Women are generally treated like dog crap in Palestinian culture. - The Palestinians recruit children to be terrorist, as young as 3 years old. There are hundreds of photos out there (some I have posted) of Palestinian children with guns and training in terrorist cells. - After 3,000 people perished in New York on 9/11/01, there was footage on every news channel of Palestinians cheering en masse. I've just run out of sympathy for the Palestinian cause. Anyone please correct me on any of my mistakes above or add parts that I may have forgotten.
Blackmail Posted January 11, 2006 Author Posted January 11, 2006 by the way, alot of Muslims in the area do not want the land split up, they only want the jews out of the land altogether. Recently the president of Iran said that he wanted the jews gone and even said the holocaust was a lie. The land is considered holy by both sides but moreso to the Jews, Jeruselum was named in the Torah several times but it was never mentioned in the Quran at all. There is alot more that I am forgetting but it's late and I need sleep.
Blackmail Posted January 11, 2006 Author Posted January 11, 2006 one more thing, I think as Zhukov was stating above, the Jews have showed great patience with the Palestinians. The Israeli's could rid the land of Arabs altogether if they wanted, but they don't. They continue to try to broker peace agreements. After the original war I mentioned above, it would have been easy for the Jews to kick all arabs out of the Country but instead gave a small portion of land to the Palestinians called the Gazza Strip (I think that is the part, someone help me out here) so even since the beginning, the jews were trying to work something out.
Fierce Critter Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 You know something? I actually think I get it now. I will re-read this a couple more times, and it will help me understand news reports, talking heads, etc. That was very good of you to do for me, and others who might also have been confused or altogether ignorant. Thanks. How fast do you type?
The_Dark Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 i see a point I would like to clarify... The British were never really incharge there. Their presence was not part of their Imperial past. When the Ottaman empire fell apart... the Leage of Nations created countires from the various areas that had historically been nations... Iraq, Jordan and Turkey are good examples... When they were done.. they had this little piece of contested land that noone ever valued enough to claim... We call that area Israel and Palistine. The British were there to keep the people from killing each other as they were want to do. The British didn't do a very good job.. then WWII broke out... and that distracted them even more... the rest you have pretty close. Oh.. and the attacking countries were Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Yemen. And actually, at that point.. Israel had no standing army to speak of. They fought with what rifles they had.. sometimes using things as simple as pitch forks.
