Hellion Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 :devil T ACLU is about to get a lawsuit against the government for wanting to spy on damestic calls, I can understand when it comes to international calls, due to terrorism, But call like when you call your parents or other relatives is going a little too far. Yeah of course there may be a situation where some idiot will commit treason, but spying on everone is more of a privacy issue. Whats next The New World Order. I'll be dammned if any of those asshole lawmakers are going to implant a bug under my skin so they can hear everything I say. This is definately turning into a Dictatorship. My Opinion,PS I forgot I am not even entitled to my own opinion either, ha ha ha ha!!!
The_Dark Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 The problem is... noone is tapping phone calls of the normal everyday type. The only phone calls being listened to are international calls that involve a known terrorist. The other thing is.. it's been going on for some time. Bush is not the first one to do it, he just got caught.
Shade Everdark Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 What bothers me about it is that there is a system in place whereby the administration can have the phone tapped, and get permission from the secret court up to 72 hours after the telephone conversation has ended. There was absolutely no reason for him not to do this, unless he had something to hide.
The_Dark Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 The reason is Timeing. Say Osama BinFucking-Sheep is going to call an operative here in the states at 2:45am local time so that they can finallize the plans to blow up a local sports stadium. Out Intelligence agencys find out at 2:30am local time that said call is going to take place. So they listen in on it. The next day.. noone at the Super bowl gets blown into little pieces because our people were able to stop the plot. You have a problem with listening to that call and then checking with the courts afterward?
Shade Everdark Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 My problem lies with them listening to that call and not checking with the courts afterward.
ZhukovCodeslinger Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 I think the 72 hours part is due to the volume of stuff being recorded... it might take 72 hours to figure out that they need to listen to somthing and then look into it. Its just like reading my "library borrowing list" completely useless unless they are watching me, or I have already done somthing. Its just to add charges or add nails to the coffin.... its more of a find out what they were up to back then rather than what they are up to now.
