:devil With all these layoffs going on nationwide, I am really starting to wonder if this countries economy is going to go 100% under. My aunt in California said that the economy out there is really bad too. Are we heading towards being a third world nation? Because there are several million people out of work in America. This is definately the beginning of the end.

Yup. My freind is in luck, and good at his job. They fired 30 designers and HE GOT TO KEEP HIS JOB!!!!!! I am so happy. His kids still need him finacially and all even though they are the same age as mine and older.

They call it lay offs but he said most of these people will NOT ever, get their jobs back.

It's corporate people that are killing this countries economy with their million dollar saleries and bonuses. So, to help raise profits margines they lower the cost of prodution by moving factories to Mexico and out sourcing IT jobs. The CEO's are not thinking when you consider this, if they take away all the good paying work from us and then try to "import" the products back to a nation that can mostly only afford the basics and most essential needs, who's gonna buy their products?

Combine that with soaring gas prices which are making the cost of these "most essential needs" i.e. food, clothes, gas its self, in the end they will be hurting themselves. None of it makes sense.

The best way (IMO) to fix our job market is for these companies to lower the saleries of their CEO's, CFO's ect. and then these companies can hire back or create new jobs or what have you. What they should understand is if there is a healthy job market more people will be willing to spend more so their profits will go up.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Well we are far, far off from being anywhere near a 3rd world nation. Being a frequent visitor of California I do know that California has the highest unemployment rate in America, but there are a number of reasons why this has happened. Bush being re-elected sure didn't help matters any, but Wall Street is still going strong and I still am still highly involved in the stock market.

The economy is in a mess, but then again, there are a lot of fields where there are not enough people to fill the positions. My company can't find enough people to do medical transcription most of the time so we always run behind. It takes training though, and most of the time only 25% or so of the classes make it all the way through without giving it up. It's tough, but I like it. The field suits me.

If I were in the market to job hunt again and didn't have specific training for a job in demand I'd do a little sniffing around and see what is in demand. It's not easy but there are ways to go to school if you really want to. I had to go into debt to do it but I eventually dug myself back out. Took me way longer than the rich bitches and bastards who had their whole way paid, hehe, but I did it eventually.

I'm thinking I'm going to be moving to AZ, soon! Can't wait! I friggin' love it here! The heat doesn't bother me at all and the best part? NO SNOW!!! (S.N.O.W. - Shit  No One Wants)   Been staying in Bullhead City where the kids and grandkids live. Next, we're going to the wife's cousin's which is a ways North of Kingman, in the middle of nowhere, where we actually plan to move.   I really like Bullhead. It's a nice little town. Not overcrowded like Colorado Springs has become, at all. Very light traffic, reasonable prices on everything, low taxes, etc. The river offers a lot to do, with a lot of beaches and campgrounds all around it.   But yeah even though we've been over 110º-115º F just about every day,  I can handle it!  What I can't handle anymore, is snow and being cold. Just tired of it. Give me the desert over a blizzard any day!

Nope, we wasn't doing anything. I didn't want to go by myself.  I ended up doing karaoke here. It would of been a perfect day to go, though.
