Brenda Starrr Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 Dammit! I want to adopt every single cat in there! We went in tonight, and (of course) Sierra had to go to the adoption area. There is this cat named Pumpkin. She's a sweetie! Wayne went up to her and leaned into the cage. She put her paw on his nose and began to purr. He got all sorts of gooey over her. Choked up, even. He leaned back in, and she did it again. OMG, soooo cute! There's also this Umbrella Cockatoo there named Maverick. (I'd change his name to Mango or Mephisto if I get him). He's a sweetie as well. Whenever I show up, (and I'm sure that he likes only me!!) He says Hello and presses his head against his cage. When I stroke his head, he mumbles something that I can't quite figure out. He is the sweetest bird. All we left with was a new "Taj Mahal" bird cage for Polyester and Chiquita Parakeeta. It's cool, though. It's like a friggin' mansion for birds. It really does look like the Taj Mahal, only made out of wire. More room for them than you can shake a stick at, yet they insist on sitting on the same damn perch. I even bought a second swing. They insist on fighting over the same swing. Their food dishes look like mini grills. I love it. Damn you, Petco!!!
Onyx Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 It rips me to pieces to leave cats behind like that! I want to buy every single one of them. I'm ridiculous, so I must stay away from places where cats are sold or to be adopted. I HAVE a cat and I can not take in any more but I still end up wanting to.
Fierce Critter Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 Ah, come on, Onyx. I'm up to 9 (plus the bunny & the dog) - you've got some catching up to do!!! I wish there were Petcos down here. The only store is PetSmart. There are no Petco's, no Pet Supplies Plus, none of that. I get most of my supplies from Wal-Mart. One of the things I'm very much looking forward to upon returning to Michigan is access to more than one source of pet supplies.
Brenda Starrr Posted January 20, 2005 Author Posted January 20, 2005 I don't like PetSmart so much. Petco is a lot more fun.
mallochai Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 blargh. those types of stores give me the heebies. there's a petzoo up here where they just sell supplies, no pets, so that saves me. but when we were looking for a puppy, i couldn't take a step at the pound or the adoption places without sprouting new hiccupping tears. i'd never survive at a place that had both.
Brenda Starrr Posted January 28, 2005 Author Posted January 28, 2005 We went to Petco the other night so that the kids could see the kitties. My husband wanted to see Pumpkin again. It was so sad to see Wayne tear up when he saw that Pumpkin was adopted. He wanted to adopt her!! OMG, it was heart-breaking. We don't need another cat. Health-wise (for me), we shouldn't have another cat. That being said, I was still willing to succumb to the potential adoption of Pumpkin. I'm getting ready to go visit Maverick. I hope he's still there!
honeymustard02 Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Heheehe I know what you mean. We have to be careful going into any pet store with ferrets. We are up to 6 now!! Lol but no more till we have our own house and a room just for them!
