Fierce Critter Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Threads that I have NOT read nor even VISITED are showing dimmed purple folders. I have noticed this off and on lately. Checked with Jon, he has not accessed DGN from my account. A for instance - I have not visited the "Your Creations" forum today. There have been new posts made today, but my purple folder is shown as dim. Mods/Admin - any idea why this is happening? Is it not just me?
Rayne Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 That happens to me a lot when other people visit DGN on my computer ... even if it's not under my account. When Phee is on the laptop, the last post read button will show up at the last post he read, not me.
Fierce Critter Posted January 26, 2006 Author Posted January 26, 2006 NOBODY is accessing DGN from this computer except me. Jon hasn't been on DGN in a week. Nobody else could be accessing this computer. Unless, as I have long suspected, the cats are doing it when I'm asleep...
Fierce Critter Posted January 26, 2006 Author Posted January 26, 2006 Update/More info: Just logged off, then logged on on Jon's OtterGoth account. He hasn't been on DGN in a week. And the fashion & Sex forums are showing as dim. Clicked into the Fashion forum, and all the threads are dim. Including a thread that was just created today. Whassup wit dat?
Head Wreck Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 maybe an SQL handling glitch server side. that or the cookies on your side has been accidentaly cleaned off. i'm dont know how IPB handles read threads
Ginevra Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 I don't think you've been hacked but of course, as a safety measure, I'd recommend that you and Otter change your passwords to something unguessable just in case. I have two different computers that I access DGN from. I think it's dependant on the cookies. When I check DGN from one computer and then check it from another later, it doesn't always remember that I've read/not read a particular thread. If you're using your laptop *and* your desktop machine, this could easily be the solution.
Fierce Critter Posted January 27, 2006 Author Posted January 27, 2006 It sounds like a cookies issue. I was messing with my cookies today in order to sign into a driver website.
pharoh Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Do what Froyn, Ginevra, and head wreck said....All good advice
DarkChylde Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Its gotta be the cookies, I've known somone who had the same problem and when he messed with his cookies a bit his account was fine.
JaneDead Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 i've had the same thing happen to me critter and no one was accessing my account or my computer. whatever my issue was i am sure that is what is happening with you.
