. . . . one thing besides "I love you" and "I'm sorry for being a jerk when I was a kid", what would it be?

Posted

"you should have risked more Dad, all these years and you've lived a lie...."

You've been very immature- grow up!

Posted

You seriously don't want to know.

Posted

mom i love you and we need counseling!

Why were you such an ass? I was just a little kid.

To my father: Good riddance. (he’s dead.)

To my mother: I am glad we are civil now but I still don’t forgive you.

"Father of Mine, There are no words that would adequately express how much I appreciate everything you have ever done or sacrificed for me. Thank you for my life. I love you."

"Mother, as much as I love you, I don't like you as a person. You really need to come to grips with your mistakes as a parent and stop pretending life was perfect. It's time to move on."

Posted

"you two have allways been there for me and understanding. i cannot thank you enough"

Posted

To my Dad: " I wish that we had more time together to really know each other before you passed!"

To my Mom: " I'm so glad that I had a mother like you. I thank you for all your patience and generosity over the years. I appreciate every sacrifice that you had to suffer through to make sure that I had something fond to look back on. I'm also glad that you knew the difference between Mom and Friend and which one to use when. I love you!"

The good:

Dad, I don't know how to tell you how much I appreciate everything you've ever done - for myself, my husband, and for anyone. It almost angers me that I can't get that across to you with words. I hope my actions, instead, convince you of the depths of my gratitude. I love you SO much. But I also appreciate you and respect you more than anyone I have ever known. You are everything to me.

Mom, the love you've shown me over the years is precious & priceless. The laughter we've shared together is gold. Your understanding and openness platinum. I love you so much.

The bad - to both of them: Get the fuck over yourselves and start realizing what you've got together. Drop resentments, drop selfishness, drop fears, and start living for each other again. Mom, get the hell out of that spare bedroom and get back in bed with your husband. Dad, start being more patient with Mom and BE NICE, goddamn it.

Sell that damned house, buy a smaller house closer to Jon and me, and come over for dinner once a week. Damn it.

Something besides, "I love you," and, "I'm sorry for being a bratty kid," hm?

I think what I would say would be something like this: "You showed me love, patience, and kindness. You showed me how to give and accept help. But...parents, you never showed me THE WAY."

I tell them everything to their faces already.

something to that effect.

I've never been one to hide my feelings so my parents already know how I feel about them. Unless people are as dumb as they give me the impression they are they should be able to figure it out.

I'm pretty sure my parents know how I feel, by my actions.
