EvilEve Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 the woman that i babysit for has this same problem with a teacher and her youngest child. the teacher is so set in her way that she's not willing to see it from a parents point of view. granted, the youngest is a lot more whinney than the other two, but she refuses to compromise with the mother about the disipline action. stick to your guns, is all i can say.
Onyx Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 go get em! IMHO~ just remebr to keep your cool unless it needs to be lost. Usually once a parent goes in to sit down and talk with the principal things settle a bit and get back to normal. It like the schools sees wich kids they can push around a bit by weather or not the parent seems invovled. Not all schools but i do notice a trend, so make youself visiable and known but keep your cool at the same time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is excellent advice! One thing I do hate to see is when parents will insist their little brats can do no wrong. Every child has to have some discipline and I hate to see people insist their child is a little angel - no such thing. Every child will get up to mischief, even the best of them. I can see that this isn't the case here though - I see that you are aware that she needs to put some more effort in. There has to be a balance, but I also really hate it when a teacher will try to push a kid around. I have butted heads SO many times, especially in Florida - OMG I wanted to kill some of those idiots. I am quite impressed with the teaching so far here though. (The ONLY thing I really like about this side of the state). They are especially cool in my daughter's high school. My daughter had a C minus in math and hadn't turned some of her work in, but she understood enough of it that they offered her a place in the advanced math class. Her teacher told me he was a little disappointed but not to push her too awfully hard, just to encourage her because he honestly believes she will be a success in life with or without an A in advanced mathmatics. I really thought he was cool. OK, sorry for the thread hijack, but I think you'll handle this well if you can keep your cool (not easy I know).
