soothsayer Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 In the true spirit of punk rock, The Sex pistols turn down the rock n roll hall of fame. I say - good move Johnny. Fuck corporate assholes and their feeble attempt to come off as knowing what's good - they know nothing of the sort. More info on story here
MarsDustDoug Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I personally think hes an idiot for doing this. Supposedly the sex pistols were so anti-estalishment... but they did everything to get into the limelight. They allowed a movie to be made about their most infamous member... thats right next to allowing their music to be put into a commercial for paper towels in some circles discussing "sell-out". Now they are given the chance to show the message they so yearned to get out into the world forever next to other leaders and movement makers. What does he do? Pisses on them. Not a smart move in my opinion
The_Dark Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 See... they didn't say they didn't want the honor... they only said they would not show up at the ceremony... Same as always... Jonny being an asshole to get attention while screaming "Don't look at me."
phee Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 See... they didn't say they didn't want the honor... they only said they would not show up at the ceremony... Same as always... More info on story here <{POST_SNAPBACK}> your only a sell out if you change your music to get to the top or money. the objective for all musicians is to be recognized, its just most change there style to do so, sex pistols didnt, so they wouldnt have "sold out" by going to a ceremony to celebrate there music. i agree it was a dumb move.
ZhukovCodeslinger Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 I almost care.... (that makes me more punk than you :-P)
Msterbeau Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 See... they didn't say they didn't want the honor... they only said they would not show up at the ceremony... Same as always... Jonny being an asshole to get attention while screaming "Don't look at me." Hmm.. I agree with you for once. John Lyndon, Malcolm McClaren, et al were just attention whores and marketing bullshitters... I liked some of PIL's stuff... but I never liked Lydon.
