I was told by a friend about a chain letter that she received about this. It is a way to get Directory assistance without having to pay the disgusting per call fees to the phone company of your choice. Nextel charges in excess of $2.00 per call!!

A call to 800-FREE-411, a typical 800 number, it costs you only the cost of airtime on your particuar phone, landlines are normally free or unlimited.

The only catch is that you MAY need to listen to a brief advertisement. I have called between 5 and 10 times and never have been subjected to one of these ads.
