Now it's up to the House. If it passes and Granholm signes it... the minimom wage will increase to $6.95 by October 1, 2006, $7.15 by July 1, 2007 and $7.40 by July 1, 2008.

The interesting thing is whats coming in the election. There is going to be a ballet inititive to write the minimum wage into the Constitution and tie it to inflation. This current bill is really an oposition move to that.

It's about time. Still not very easy to make it on that but I'm sure if it passes a lot of folks will have a bit more food on the table.

I disagree. Prices will go up. Poverty limit will probably remain the same, lessening opportunities for aid for the ones who need it. Low paying jobs will be moved at even faster rates to other countries....

and I won't even get a raise!!!

Yes I agree with Miss Marblez it is a bad thing. No only will prices go up but it doesnt do any good for anyone. The only thing it does it cause the middle class to get fucked in the ass.

1. Things will go up in price so there for people that where making Minium Wage can only afford what they could before. Their net pay may go up but they will spend the extra money brought home on shit thats overpriced because stores have to pay more due to the raise in minium wage. It a proven fact that even minium wage goes up your still at the same poverty level. There was some book that Jarod went over while talking about this in bed one night I can remeber the name of it but it had some really go points on economics.

2. The rich are not highly effected. As I believe it was put by my dork "oh dear so I wont be able to get all the extras on my Mercedez" it was funny. The rich are just rich and really dont care if they have to pay an extra 2$ for their 30$ shampoo.

3. The middle class is the only class that is effect by this sadly. It doesnt increase their net pay that they take home and they still have to pay for overpriced shit.

So your 30 and still working at a job that pays Minium wage. WHY? Its one of three things,

1. You really like your job and you get something VERY rewarding out if.

2. Your stupid and just don't see.

3. You don't care to change, your content with just having a job at all.

The fact is if your still 30 and have a job that only pays you MW. If your that unhappy GO BACK TO SCHOOL. GET AN EDUCATION. And dont give me that "we I can't go back to school because I have kids" or " I dont have the money" or all the other excuses that are out there. That what they are EXCUSES. There are plently of programs to help you, so your not stuck in the living hell that is MW. Fuck man have a little more self worth than getting payed 5.25 to do a job that they should be paying you great , with all the shit you have to put up with.
