A friend of mine, (let's name him Bob) was married to a lady named, oh, say Anna. Now that Anna and Bob are officially divorced, Anna has decided to remarry. She has decided that her and her new beau will be married in the Catholic church.

Now, Bob and Anna had children together. Anna has asked Bob for a copy of his baptismal records saying that they're needed for the children's baptismals/her wedding.

Is anyone familiar enough with the Catholic faith to know if she really might need his baptismal certificate? If so, why? Anna and Bob, while both are Catholic, were not married in a Catholic church, nor do they belong to a church nor were practicing Catholics during their marraige.

Hmmm... I was raised Catholic and my daughters mom and I were married in the Catholic church. We were never required to offer proof of baptism that I can remember. Our experience was that they do want you to be part of whatever congregation you get married at. I suppose it's possible that it's a legit request. Catholics... *rolls eyes*

i have not heard of this but maybe since they were both not practicing catholics she wants proof that they both are in fact catholic/baptized to present for her children. i don't know if they actually *ask* for it, but they might? if i were him i would call and ask. i don't know what she would be up to if this were not the truth though? i don't see what she would really gain by having these records if not for the purpose intended.

The only reason I can think of might be to get an annulment from the prior marriage... Seems like she'd say something about that, though.

I thought something similar at first but because Anna & Bob were not married in a Catholic church, the marriage is not "officially" recognised and therefore, as much as I understand it, does not need an annulment.

That sounds right.

Catholic girls

At the cyo

Catholic girls

Do you know how they go?

Catholic girls

There can be no replacement

How do they go, after the show?

Joe:

All the way

That’s the way they go

Every day

And none of their mamas ever seem to know

Hip-hip-hooray

For all the class they show

There’s nothing like a catholic girl

At the cyo

When they learn to blow...

I'm thinking I'm going to be moving to AZ, soon! Can't wait! I friggin' love it here! The heat doesn't bother me at all and the best part? NO SNOW!!! (S.N.O.W. - Shit  No One Wants)   Been staying in Bullhead City where the kids and grandkids live. Next, we're going to the wife's cousin's which is a ways North of Kingman, in the middle of nowhere, where we actually plan to move.   I really like Bullhead. It's a nice little town. Not overcrowded like Colorado Springs has become, at all. Very light traffic, reasonable prices on everything, low taxes, etc. The river offers a lot to do, with a lot of beaches and campgrounds all around it.   But yeah even though we've been over 110º-115º F just about every day,  I can handle it!  What I can't handle anymore, is snow and being cold. Just tired of it. Give me the desert over a blizzard any day!

Nope, we wasn't doing anything. I didn't want to go by myself.  I ended up doing karaoke here. It would of been a perfect day to go, though.
