I really thought Jill Carroll was a dead woman

I'm happy for her but very very shocked they released her. I wonder why they decided to let her go and have killed so many others.

AP - Kidnappers have released U.S. journalist Jill Carroll, who grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

In a news conference today Carroll said she was, "happy to be free" and with her family. Carroll said she was treated well in the nearly three months she was held captive in Iraq. But she says she still isn't sure why she was taken. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who's in Germany, expressed "great delight" and relief at Carroll's release.

She was working as a freelance writer for the 'Christian Science Monitor' when she was kidnapped in Baghdad on January 7th by

gunmen who killed her translator.

They had been threatening to kill her unless Iraq and the U.S. released all female detainees in Iraq."
