saechalyn Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 So as most of you know, my wonderful roommate has a life change coming his way this summer which means come July it's time to move. I just put in an application for the apartment I want. It's in a great location for my job, is affordable, good amount of space and all the amenities I want. The only thing that makes me nervous is my not-exactly-stellar credit. But as far as the other things they check for, I have zero criminal history, I make well over the minimum income requirement and I have perfect local landlord references, so hopefully I'll be ok. It's never gotten in my way in the past, but I've also never tried to go for a place by myself before. If I get it this will be my first apartment that is just mine, without roommates! Wish me luck!
Marblez Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Luck, you don't need luck. You have earned it and you know it.
Shade Everdark Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 I have to agree with Marblez. You're one of the awesomest, most independent-minded people I know, and I know you'll be fine.
Brenda Starrr Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 I'm going to say "good luck" despite the fact that you don't need it.
Guest Megalicious Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Dont worry Angela YOULL GET IT !!! :cheerful
Msterbeau Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Would you like some cheese to go with that whine? *Runs*
saechalyn Posted April 11, 2006 Author Posted April 11, 2006 Thanks for the vote of confidence folks. Unfortunately by "not exactly stellar" I mean "really lousy" thus my anxiety. Ah well, something will work out. I've been in far worse circumstances.

EvilEve Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 the little tiny monkey that sits inside my ear tells me to tell you that you'll get the place that you want. also, he wants a banana, but not a banana phone. so if you have a banana, please throw it my way so i can shut him up. *pst! good luck!*

slingerlandstyx Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Thanks doll... I work in Ann Arbor so that's kinda far. I'll come up with somethin. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah that would be a bit of a drive. However, you could order Jimmy John's deliveries, and I could bring it to you! Not to mention proximity to Luna.

Marblez Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Credit is not so much of a problem if you rent from an independant owner. There's a few condos in my complex for rent, but they go for about 800 (eek!). I have seen a few places around that have smallish upper flat type apartments. If I see one that seems interesting, I'll let you know.

Guest Megalicious Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 It's over!! I have a home! YAY!!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> YAY
slingerlandstyx Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 I'm jealous. I have a feeling I won't be able to renew my lease in august, so I'm just getting into it.
saechalyn Posted June 15, 2006 Author Posted June 15, 2006 More details: I'm renting from a very sweet-seeming older couple who have a 4-unit apartment house on their 11 acres of property (did I mention I have full use of the grounds?? I do!) The apartment is very small, but not a studio and has everything I need including a thermostat for heat and air conditioner in the bedroom. The rent is only $40 more than I'm paying now for my share and since heat and water are included, I doubt my expenses will increase much if at all. It will be a longer, but reasonable, 20 minutes to work and puts me a stone's throw closer to Detroit friends. I'm very pleased!
