Miranda Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 What did you like to read before bed time as a child? I enjoyed Peter and the Wolf, my parents had bought me albums that had books and you were read stories, and this was my favorite. I also loved anything with a supernatural tinge.

Hellheart Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 I had a whole fucking shelf of children's books, including illustrated classics that were intended to be read by kids several years older than I. It generally took me at least 2 hours to sleep until like 6th grade. It got really bad; I didn't have a book on that shelf that I didn't read at least 5 times.
Gauge Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 i made my mom read me the pokey little puppy to me every night before i went to bed.
TygerLili Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 When I was really little my mom read me a lot of Richard Scary. I also liked Berenstein Bears and Little Mr and Little Miss books. When I was in grade school I read Babysitters' Club, though now when I see those I cringe at how badly they're written. As a kid/teen I always had my nose in a book. Ever since college I have to force myself to read anything longer than a magazine article.
The_Dark Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Hrmmmm.... I didn't read childrens books as a child. I read Horror Comic books starting at about 6... and I'm not sure how young I was when I started reading the Dictionary and the Encyclopedia for fun.. but it was young. I think I was about 8 when Dad bought me a copy of Stranger in a Strange Land and told me to come talk to him when I "grokked it". I read War and Peace when I was 10 and Roots when I was 13.
