The_Dark Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 We went on a family walk back near the Indian mounds.. I found this while taking a break. Any idea what it is?
phee Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 It would appear to be a wild spwakencluck egg... if it begins to smell like peaches, seek shelter immediatly
torn asunder Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 well, i'd say either vertebrae, or petrified glazed donuts.... :blink
The_Dark Posted April 19, 2006 Author Posted April 19, 2006 the lighter colored small rings and the center of it are compressed sand. the donut shapped parts seem to be some kind of crystal.

kellygrrrrrl Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 That is so cool dark! What a find! Maybe it came from a cave formation or something..is it salty at all?
The_Dark Posted April 20, 2006 Author Posted April 20, 2006 It's about a half inch long and has about the same diameter.
LadyWindstone Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Take out all the moisture and it could probably get that small. LOL
Guest Megalicious Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I had a dream about this "thing" lastnight Dark. I wonder if you could take it to the local county musem ... and find out what it is. Im sure if you called one up they would be willing to take a look at it for you. I'm so curious....
The_Dark Posted April 21, 2006 Author Posted April 21, 2006 My sister in law is a geologist.. I sent her the pics and now await her reply... if ever.. she is kinda.. flighty.
Msterbeau Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Mushrooms of some sort? Fossilized? It's hard to tell what the non-sand material is.
The_Dark Posted April 21, 2006 Author Posted April 21, 2006 I've already tasted it... hence it looking wet in the pics... it tastes like stone. Go figure. Looking at books about fossils.. the closests thing I can find is a jelly fish... but that would mean this was 3 jelly fish sqaushed together with a hole down the middle. and Marc.. I have it in my hand and I cant really tell what the non-sand part is.
Msterbeau Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Maybe a pice of native american jewely? Something along those lines... Time under earth may have brought it to it's current condition. *shrugs* It seems man-made... the "donuts" size and alignment suggests that. *shrugs again*
Brenda Starrr Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Take out all the moisture and it could probably get that small. LOL <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Freeze dried.
The_Dark Posted April 21, 2006 Author Posted April 21, 2006 Marc, Yeah, I get the feeling this is something man made. if it's something moderen.. i have no idea what it is. I am betting it's a native american artifact of some kind. I live within 3 miles of some mounds... and this was about a half mile from the mounds. heres an article about the mounds and the area I live in. As remote as this article says they are... I walk to past the mounds all the time. Missaukee Mounds
Mickmick Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 well, i'd say either vertebrae, or petrified glazed donuts.... DAMN! That was what I as going to say.
