Der Nister Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 What will you be cutting out? Or, will it not slow you own and you'll just pay the extra money to continue with business as usual. And what I mean is activities other than work and family of course. Share please.
Nevaeh Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 well, i already take the bus as much as i can...to classes and whatnot...i'm going to have to cut down on my caffeine habit too...and try to plan my grocery, errand running, and shopping trips a little more efficiently.
Der Nister Posted April 22, 2006 Author Posted April 22, 2006 This is going to hurt so many different areas of our economy it's not even funny. If there's a true shortage on gas, why not ration gas like they did during WWII or the early 70's?
Msterbeau Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 This is going to hurt so many different areas of our economy it's not even funny. If there's a true shortage on gas, why not ration gas like they did during WWII or the early 70's? I drive a reasonably fuel efficient car.. always have. Shit... I raced a car that got better fuel economy then most big SUVs. It won't slow me down much. Pretty well every country in the developed world has gas prices far higher then ours. Why? To get people to drive more efficient cars.. use public transportation and conserve fuel. No matter who's estimates you believe, oil is a finite resource and it would be smart if people started realizing that and drove more efficient vehicles. If you want to drive a large beast... fine... just don't complain about the $$$ it costs to fill up. As for the oil companies... it seems more then a little suspicious that they made huge profits in a year when there were also record high gas prices. As The Dark mentioned in another thread... the high price of crude is certainly in part linked to the instability in the middle east. Whether that's a deliberate action on the Iranian's part is debatible. It wouldn't take much to convince me...
Hellion Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 :devil This will be a major impact on the global economy
FarrIL Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Well my Jeep's been recently repaired which will hopefully make it more fuel effiecient. As far as how I'm going to go about dealing with gas prices? Bitch, moan, find another job, and pay what I have to so I can do the stuff I wanna do. Mmhmm. And I'm cutting back on soda. Juice is better for your health anyway.
Msterbeau Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Jeep = aerodynimic brick. Ain't never gonna be "efficient". Except maybe for crawling up rocks... :-)
Head Wreck Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 i had a 1.4 litre peugeot that kept up with a bmw 740 (just) and it still did 40 to the gallon on a month where i had a heavy foot. SUV's are stupid. and as for hot rationing gasd during the war. cars today cannot run on the gas rationed out over here during the war (pool spirit). hence why during the wart years car development during the war years grinded to a halt during war and made a developmental boom after the war (DAMMIT I WANT A TUCKER TORPEDO). lets face it. diesels ftw. mix of vegetable oils with a bit of spirits added to it will run a diesel with no adverse affects that normal diesel fuel wouldnt. i'm going to miss my diesel pug when i get rid of that. the fast pug i have just sold this morning.
Saephyr Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Carpool when I go out to play, share gas money likealways (Pharoh xxx), walk when i can a few ...very few places, make multiple trips within one and route it so it's more efficient. 1 thing Mapquest is kinda goof or, giving youthe number of miles and stuff. Oh yeah...and moving to fucking Florida where I can share a car with the boss and maybe get into public trans since it's not to bad when you have the time right Neveah?
kellygrrrrrl Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Been doing a lot of walking/skating to local places....rather than driving... cutting out driving as a leisurly activity....(Which is cutting out going out to eat @ McD's, BK, etc...) Not spending so much on things I "want"...spending it more I things I "Need"
honeymustard02 Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Well I just got a $1.10 raise at work so that helps out a lot. But I just got a new moutain bike, so I might start riding to places. I'm out of shape and flabby so it might help.
