heh

when i said welsh has 11 dialects.

i meant 11 variations on the language (yes really. its rare for a turk like me to understand a gog)

plus the language mutates with gender tense (yes like past and present, but for male and female conitations)

My head tech is British... He's from Essex, so he should have a cockney accent, but speaks with a Cambridge accent. Noone could understand him when he moved over so he did a self promotion.. so to speak. See, you can tell where a person's family comes from in the old Feudal system by the accent they speak... mostly.

If you're Professor Henry Higgins then you can still do that today. (A "My Fair Lady" reference for those who didn't get it.)

THere's a town in Wales called:

Llanfairpwllgwyngyll

W

T

F

??????

You can't put 12 consonants in a row and think I'll be okay with that.

I hear to others english (spoken in an american accent) does sound ugly......flat vowels and what not. We are just used to it.

its actually a hell of a lot longer.

dont forget the welsh alphabet has 22 letters. Ll is a single letter and f is pronounced like a V. ff is pronounced as f and there is no v

Y and W are actually vowels in welsh

the actual full name is llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

(i shit you not) though locals simply refer to it as llanfair or llanpwll (who can blame them)

the name has a meaning and translated means:

The church of St. Mary in the hollow of white hazel trees near the rapid whirlpool by St. Tysilio's of the red cave

its common for welsh place names to be a description of the area, such as cwmcapel (chapel valley), Glan Y Mor (beside the sea).

to be honest i havent said that name out loud since i was a sprog.

i think that we'll have to organise a restraunt meet while i'm there and discuss the language further.

on second hand. sopme of the constinents in welsh are a case of "stand well back" on first attempt even without food debris :D

welsh aside from the grammatical mutations. in whatever dialect is a purely phonetic written language, as long as you stick to the language.

spook, wonder if this will help your acting and accent forming

on a note. i was wrong. theres 28 letters in the alphabet
