MarsDustDoug Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 Well I must admit im ratehr excited for this one and I get to see a nice sneak this coming week (2 weeks early!) Ill for surely being writing a review and posting it on Marsdust.com anyone else lookin forward to this one? The original is one of my fav
Homicidalheathen Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 I hope they don't fuck it up. I usually hate remakes.....every once in a great while someone will do a classic justice, but it's rare.
phee Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 From the previews it looks a lot like the original... which makes me wonder why they bothered
Slept with ghost Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 heh ever see the remake of psycho? for the most part its not the idea of a classic movie being remade as much as it is the casting they should stick to unkonwn actors and actresses so you wont have as much bitching about who is playing hows part
Head Wreck Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 i dont want to see it. hollywood wants to revive failing box office sales with bad rehashes. i'm making a stand and not giving them my cash on such a cheap and desperate messure. get some new actors in and new scripts and put money in that
DarkVampire Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 What's with all of these movie remakes lately? The classicas are not good enough?
Brenda Starrr Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 So far, I've been unimpressed by remakes. Therefore, I won't see this one. Or, "Poseidon" for that matter.
DJ Nocker Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 I am exited to see it but i do agree alot of the remakes latly have sucked. Although i can also say a couple were very good. A example of a good one would be "the hills have eyes" i think it was much better than the orignal.
Saephyr Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 I hope they keep the suspense element in there like the orig but they would likely replace that with gore :doh ...any thought on that?
phee Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 I hope they keep the suspense element in there like the orig but they would likely replace that with gore :doh ...any thought on that? That seems to be a common flavor.... I really hate when they stick a whole bunch of WB people in the movie and play emo music for 2 hours even more though...
MarsDustDoug Posted May 26, 2006 Author Posted May 26, 2006 I saw it this past wed hehe. Good to have friends who work in theatres. I will post a review of it by tomorrow. i saw Poseidon too last week at the Imax. I LOVE the original poseidon and the new one was pretty damn good too. Maybe it was due to it being at the Imax and it was just rockin on that screen. I would recommend it
Saephyr Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Yeah but aren't you tired of the remake game as well MDD?
MarsDustDoug Posted May 27, 2006 Author Posted May 27, 2006 Yeah but aren't you tired of the remake game as well MDD? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yes and no. its a hard question. There are things im glad they remade because it wuold be difficult to try and make better. Dawn of The Dead for example. I really liked the remake. Was gorey, good plot, good characters and it showed the evolution of zombie. I was also a fan of the texas chainsaw remake. It gave it a bit of campy teen slasher quality that I think made it just as good as the original (which is one of the craziest and violent movies with barely any blood) So without taking this to novel proportions Ill say that I'm weary of most remakes. I will give them a shot in hopes that better tech will turn something already great into an "updated" great. hehe
Saephyr Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 We can always hope that DAWN showed some folks how it SHOULD be done I guess. Nothing to see at theatres right now it doesn't sem so I guess I'm going to be an X-fan and go c part 3
martyrthisthat Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 What's with all of these movie remakes lately? The classicas are not good enough? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm glad other people are sick of remakes. I may go see this, however. I like that it's being released on 6-6-06. Clever advertising.
DarkVampire Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 I will probably see it but damn are they running out of ideas in Hollywood? Judging by the trailers it looks like it copies the original pretty good.
MarsDustDoug Posted May 29, 2006 Author Posted May 29, 2006 I will probably see it but damn are they running out of ideas in Hollywood? Judging by the trailers it looks like it copies the original pretty good. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> it does and it does it well! I was worried going into the theatre that they would "update" it too much and change too much. nope!

DJ Nocker Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Which makes me wonder why they would bother to remake it... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yea...it does seem pretty much the same from the previews...guess we will have to wait and see
phee Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 yea...it does seem pretty much the same from the previews...guess we will have to wait and see thought you already saw it...
