I hope they don't fuck it up. I usually hate remakes.....every once in a great while someone will do a classic justice, but it's rare.

for the most part its not the idea of a classic movie being remade as much as it is the casting they should stick to unkonwn actors and actresses so you wont have as much bitching about who is playing hows part

hollywood wants to revive failing box office sales with bad rehashes. i'm making a stand and not giving them my cash on such a cheap and desperate messure.

get some new actors in and new scripts and put money in that

So far, I've been unimpressed by remakes. Therefore, I won't see this one. Or, "Poseidon" for that matter.

I am exited to see it but i do agree alot of the remakes latly have sucked. Although i can also say a couple were very good. A example of a good one would be "the hills have eyes" i think it was much better than the orignal.

I hope they keep the suspense element in there like the orig but they would likely replace that with gore :doh ...any thought on that?

That seems to be a common flavor....

I really hate when they stick a whole bunch of WB people in the movie and play emo music for 2 hours even more though...

I saw it this past wed hehe. Good to have friends who work in theatres. I will post a review of it by tomorrow.

i saw Poseidon too last week at the Imax. I LOVE the original poseidon and the new one was pretty damn good too. Maybe it was due to it being at the Imax and it was just rockin on that screen. I would recommend it

yes and no. its a hard question. There are things im glad they remade because it wuold be difficult to try and make better. Dawn of The Dead for example. I really liked the remake. Was gorey, good plot, good characters and it showed the evolution of zombie. I was also a fan of the texas chainsaw remake. It gave it a bit of campy teen slasher quality that I think made it just as good as the original (which is one of the craziest and violent movies with barely any blood)

So without taking this to novel proportions Ill say that I'm weary of most remakes. I will give them a shot in hopes that better tech will turn something already great into an "updated" great. hehe

I may go see this, however. I like that it's being released on 6-6-06. Clever advertising.
