major purchuses casue major stress

So, I sitting here mulling over what I did yesterday and have come to the conclusion that it was a blessing and a curse. I did the typical American thing where I buy too much of something I really cant afford with credit under the preface that I'll pay it back over time. Now Ive never gotten into trouble before with finacing household stuff before but nevertheless I worry taking on more debt with the economy as it is adn the job market so shaky.

Anyway, I bought a brand new king sized bed and bedroom set from Art Van Friday night and It got deliverd and setup today. After spending hours in the stores shopping for new bedding and cordinating window treatments my new bedroom is just about complete. I'm exhusted, broke and a little bit concerened because I went way over budget again on this project. My rational was that I might as well spend more on the bed I really want since I spend so much time their and good sleep affects so much of my life. I hope it was the right decison but damn, spending a bunch of cash like that is so stressful. What does everone else think? Do you get stressed out over major purchuses, Are you a cash buyer or no. how do you feel about spending more then you had planned if its well justified?

Augg... At least I'll get a really good night sleep, and for once my girlfriend cant hog the bed.

New beds are awesome. I have that Tempurpedic mattress, and I have NEVER slept so well.

Enjoy your new bed, Nick. You'll need it after rollerblading.....

*edited to add that I can see that major purchases cause major dyslexia in thread titles.

Friday must have been the day to buy furniture! Drew and I bought a queen-size bed (we had a full-size before, and fitting both of us, four pillows, and a cat on it was always daunting), huge (cushy, awesome) black leather couch and matching rocking recliner thing. All but the recliner got delivered yesterday (it's on back order) and we went out and got bedding and other homey-type stuffs. We're more or less splitting the cost on everything, but the couch and recliner are definitely a point of some stress, since it's on us to pay it all off in a year or face disgusting interest charges. So, while we didn't necessarily go way over budget, we did make a huge commitment by having this to pay off, so I can understand your strife. We haven't spent this much money in a day ever, so yeah, it is a little scary, if you let it bother you. However, before buying the couch and recliner (the bed was considerably less of a big purchase), we both sat down and talked out how we'd budget our moneys to be able to afford to pay it all off in a year.

That said, suck it up and enjoy your new HUGE bed. =D We still need to get some swanky curtains to match our new navy blue and...navy blue striped sheets.
