Blackmail Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 So, Apop has a newer album but it's not a EBM/Dance record. It's alternative rock. Anyone heard it? I think it's great to be honest, but then I liked Harmonizer quite a bit and no one else on DGN seemed to like it. I also think their cover of House of Love's "Shine On" is pretty good.
phee Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 I have not heard anything from it... only that it was rock... Harmonizor was pretty good BTW... Welcome to Earth had a certain hook to it for me... but I have no issues with the other stuff... what is the new one like?

It isn't too heavy though. Sort of sounds like.....Third Eye Blind? I don't know, it's hard to make a comparison. The songs are catchy and they do have synths/sequencers/samples on a few songs but most of it is a rock n' roll. They do a cover of "Shine on" by House of Love (80's postpunk band) and it sounds almost exactly like the orignal. Apop does too many covers though, they have 2 Metallica covers, DM's Enjoy the Silence, The Cure's A strange Day and now this. One band shouldn't have 5 cover songs. Stephen Groth's vocals are pretty bad though, they always have been in my opinion.

TearSandrille Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 The new album "You and Me Against the World" is the one I think you are talking about. At first, I didn't like the album because of the change. But, after a couple spins I grew to love it. It just sucks that it wasn't released in the US from what I remember. I would highly recommend it to anyone if they don't mind hearing a new sound coming from them.
Pulse State Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 I never got into it, really. Aside from "In This Together", I didn't find one other song of note on there. :(
Nerdcore Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 heard from a good source.. that the cd has not been released in the US becuase of label issues and no one wanting to pick them up in the US this time around...
Nerdcore Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 also just read in german mag that one of the guitarist is leaving the band.. dont know which one.. ( or I cannot make out the german )
Pulse State Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 If you're talking about Anders Odden, he just rejoined APB back in early 2005 or sometime around there. Wonder what the deal is? What website were you looking at? I know German somewhat decently so I can read news-clips and things.
bav Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 <snip> Apop does too many covers though, they have 2 Metallica covers, DM's Enjoy the Silence, The Cure's A strange Day and now this.
