Ok, So I'm a huge rat lover and...

so I used to hate domestic rats before I knew anything about them. Now, I have 6 of them. They are the nicest, most affectionate animals I've ever had. They do not bite, they are not mean, they are clean, they are smart and ultra friendly.

So my question is, should I hate people who feed pet rats to their snakes? I do hate them. I want to go to their houses and take a doo doo on their kitchen floor.

There is 2 people that I know (probably more) on DGN who have talked about feeding pet rats to their snake. Should I challenge these people to a duel?

I honestly feel it is immoral. Plus, I do happen to have one mean rat and none of the nice things I listed above apply to him - he is very mean and we had to put him in his own cage. Well, I think he would kill a snake. He is quick and has sharp fangs and he already tries to pick fights with the cats when they come near his cage. I hope that there are rats like him who injure the snakes.

I prefer not to have to hear about people feeding cute fuzzies to reptiles. But I also understand and can deal with nature's food chain.

But I was real, real sickened and brought to tears when I saw some kind of TV show where they had these big enclosures with lots of rabbits & guinea pigs running around - to be eaten by whatever carnivore it was they'd put in there with them at feeding time. I can't for the life of me remember what show this was, some kind of PBS documentary or something, and I can't remember what the carnivore was.

I love rats. But I'm horribly allergic to their droppings. I had mice, and a guine pig, and rodent droppings just kill me. No medication I've ever been on has been able to help me with that one. So I will remain rodent free for life.

I would rather have a snake than a rat but......would run the risk of getting too attached to my reptiles food supply and don't know if I have the heart to keep feeding a snake live rats.

I myself love rats and snakes also.

BUT it's not like the people are doing it to be cruel. The snake would be eating the rats and mice in nature also.

Rats in pet stores are feeder rats no matter what they tell you. They are so imbred it's not even funny.

In all honesty they're better off eaten because if they were allowed to grow up they'd probably end up with cancer or something like that.

Lol you realize that they probably kill those rats to get the meat?? It's the same thing as them just getting eaten.

Just as cruel.

As sad as it is, it's nature. They eat live furry cute creatures. But they can't just go out and get there food. They're in a tank. It needs to be brought to them.

But they do feel pain. And I'm sure the rat feels honor in its painful death. Like the ninja.
