Depeche Mode has that sweet "tire screetching" effect they use on several songs, it's awesome. They also used to have a sledge hammer hitting metal as a snare drum.

But joy Division were pretty sweet too, with the glass breaking....New Order with the motorcycle starting at the end of 'Lonesome Tonight' and the Frogs chirping on 'The Perfect Kiss' and Sheep samples on 'Fine Time'.

but my vote goes to Underworld, who have babies crying in reverse, radio static run thru distortion pedals, sounds of bugs amplified and a whole slew of other crazy samples.
