no.

just like shoes

if thier improperly fitting they will slip and cause blisters. hence i use a worn out pair of blackhawk helstorms for light work (that and i keep buying more and more gear. i have an addiction)

mechanix or some type of glove with a rubber grip that fit well are the best to avoid blisters/splinters/ or harsh weather/chemicals that cracks your skin... Glove are not just for girls they are for any one who wants to keep soft hands either for themselves or for when they run those hand over a ladys body :wink

Work gloves have to be tight to avoid blisters.

I'll just grow bigger hands.

I used to work construction... My job was to swing a sledgehammer all day. I kid you not... 14 pounds of cement smashing fun... never wore gloves.

And I thought playing bass gave me nice callouses. :blink

I did my share of bleeding before the callouses.

i actually love doing this, tho not as a job - i spent two days busting up a friends concrete swimming pool, when they decided to fill it in. heh, i even taught myself how to "swing both ways"!! (the sledgehammer, you pervs!!) :laughing

I am proud of how good i am with a sledge. I wish someone had a video camera when m,y friends and I were putting a new porch on someone's house. We had to get rid of the old steps... solid cement. 4 steps high. I broke it in half with one swing.... I doubt I could do it again... I had caught me ex-wife in bed with another man the night before... and I imagined her head halfway through the cement...

Worked both and never used gloves. That's what callouses are for.
