Do you believe in fate/destiny

Personally I do not, I never have. But I was wondering if anyone actually did. Do you believe you are here to do something great, or that you cant control your own life? I control my actions, I dont think they are set in stone.

Fate??? Hmmm... not really... sometimes I have moments but they are most likely self made

If you would have asked this about say 7 and half months ago, I would have said hell no. But I don't know now, this chain reaction of things that has happened in the last 7 months, I can't help but feel it was meant to happen, that I am right where I need to be right now, did this happen by chance? The logical side of me would like to think so, but my heart tell me something different.

The chances where so slim of me ending up where I now am in life ... I can't help but to think all the odds where against it... yet somehow I am here. I dont know if that is fate or destiny ... but it is defenitly somewhat of a miracle, compared to how my life has always been .. Its a gift. And I am greatful .. no matter what it is called.

Heads = Yes

Tails = No

No, I do not. Fate has decided that for me.

I beleive in a combination of both.

For example I beleive my fate as a child and young were not neccesarily authored by God, yet allowed by God for a purpose.

And I beleive my Destiny is the end result of those former experiences.

I definately fell "led", or "called" or whatever you want to call it. I do things a certain way with specific intention.....that's basically how I live my whole life.

Laura is the same way. That too, I beleive was fate and destiny. its not all magic though - there is still a grteat deal of personal responsibility to make the utmost of whatever gifts and skillsets and expereinces that your amy or may not have.

I've seen to omany people waste their gifts and talents....especially natural leaders, I hate to see that gift wasted.

Personally, for myself I believe that there is an end point in which we are all born to fulfill, but the way we get there is all up to us. Sort of like a maze with many ways to the goal, you just have to pick the path you want and go.

Right now, I want to say that everything right now in my life has been choosen by me, but there are a few things that say to me that there is something leading me down this path. Everything has been working out in just this way that makes everything seem too perfect.

Anywho, Life has an ending but it is up to us to get there, that is how I view it.

As I've said before. I believe in swordfish.

I believe that what happens in life is a combination of hard work and being in the right place at the right time. That said, people who strive for excellence get their reward more often than people who coast. There are exceptions.

Anyway, I don't believe that any god but the cruelest of them would put people on earth just to suffer and die, and there are certain people who are just so fucked there's nothing they can do. Like a starving child in Africa. Do they have a purpose to fulfill before they die from influenza at 4 years old? Or, is there death really so significant as to motivate others to action? It hasn't worked so far. Just one more dead kid.

oh but were about to dangerously slant off course with this thread...

put it this way: tragedy is part of our nature, and part of someone elses doing as well.

The funny thing is, I actually flipped a coin and would've put "Yes" if it came up heads. I'm glad it didn't though because it's a lot funnier this way.

well there is an interest in good and an interest in evil. both of those have there own goals for you and then there is my boy fate who is an interest outside of the other two. who would use subtle means to put the right people at the right place and time. in different parts of the world things don't work the same. but here we can see fate and subtle manipulations working in our lives. dumb shit like you leave for work and your half way down the street you go back home for something dumb and what happens when you get there is all life changing and you would have missed it otherwise. like I'll look for little heads up here an there. alot of the time something will happen in perfect corilation with my chance timing and everything around me is coming together like we planned it

Synchronicity can also be a result of chance. It's a lot less likely that events won't EVER line up than if they do every so often.

Each of our lives is an experiment with no control; no one knows how it would've turned out had we done something differently.

Probability and Possibility.....

Everything is Possible but most things are highly improbable.

Destiny is only the end to a long journey... Fate is how we get there.

I used to think no way....

But recently, I have had to question that belief.... as well as many others I have had...

I do believe in the power of Entropy and Chaos.... and in a way, this relates to fate

Sometimes I believe in fate. Sometimes everything seems random. Sometimes I believe we make our own fate.

That's your fate I guess

imo, fate and destiny are entirely and exactly what you make of them

I can pretty much ditto Steven's post.

For the most part, no. I don't believe in a preset series of actions that dictate my life from start to finish.

But I do experience things that somehow, someway, seem "meant to happen".

Posted

I used to. Not anymore. To many random things happening that don't make sense. Like the sensless killings of the innocent....you cannot tell me that is planned or deserved.

When I saw the nature vid of the whales battering around baby seals like beach balls....that proved it to me.

Karma my ass.

I don't know what to believe really.

So I don't.

I mean I do, but I don't....make sense?

I leave everything open for discussion.

I am not a closed book.

The only thing I know is our ultimate fate is death.

What comes after that? Not too sure. I don't want to know until I am told by the maker himself.

Will I be judged accordingly? Probably. I don't quite know where I fit in with that. I don't have an answer.

I can guess, hope, read what is available,. but in the end, we'll not know until it comes.

As far as the current....I believe we are responsible for our destiny. We are given things or things are taken away. It is what we do with it or not that molds our destiny. Anything can happen....I believe destiny has a lot of forks in it's road. It's just deciding the right or wrong thing that will mold it. We know the outcome at heart but sometimes choose otherwise hoping different.

=)
