The_Dark Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 So.. they have said they are not bound by thier own agreements to not fire anymore missles over Japan... And they have fueled thier newest missle that can hit Mainland USA... They can't remove the fuel without a very large chance that it will explode... but they claim they are not going to test it... Why fuel it then... the only other reason to fuel it it to Fire it with a live warhead. The USA has "turned on" it's limited missle defense system.. that Liberals say we don't need... Where to go from here....
phee Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Been reading about this a bit... when you say "The Liberals" can you be more specific? or do you mean democrats? (I am a liberal and I didn't say that )
Msterbeau Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 If we really think their going to fire it... Airstrike while it's sitting on the pad. No more problem other then a bunch of North Koreans pissed at us.. Oh wait..they already are. No biggie. Seriously.. They say it can barely reach the Aleutian Islands. I'd be more worried if I were Japan since the North Koreans last attempt ended in failure. I'd hate to have rocket parts falling on me. The more interesting discussion is if they've been able to miniturize their nuclear capability to the point of fitting in a warhead. Then there's some serious shit to think about.
Shade Everdark Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I have yet to see evidence that any missile defense systems actually work as advertised...or even half as well as advertised.
phee Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Yeah... um communists they are not.... they claim to be socialists... but yeah.... not really that either....
The_Dark Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 They fit the Stalinist model they claim to. Except I don;t think they kill enough innocents toi truely be Stalinists.
Der Nister Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 The USA has "turned on" it's limited missle defense system.. that Liberals say we don't need...Where to go from here.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Questions Dark -- why must you bash the "liberals"? Do you honestly think the repulicans are that perfect? I see no evidence of Bush and his party making this country a better place to live. And it's not just my opinion. I actually think both parties are filled mostly with jerk off assholes but are you really so pro Republican that you feel your party of choice is perfect?
Msterbeau Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 http://www.ishitech.co.il/0604ar3.htm Interesting. I hadn't heard much about the laser stuff. Though they mention it's abilities against ballistic warheads, it seems it's more of an "in theater" defense mechanism. The original "Star Wars" stuff was supposed to take out warheads hundreds of miles away from our mainland, as opposed to the 5K mentioned for this system.
The_Dark Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 Because it's almost always the Liberals that oppose anything that might keep us safe.
phee Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I don't know if it's bashing liberals... but it is making gross generalizations.... I would find it just as bad if someone said "The Conservatives are trying to get us to Nuke NK" because that lumps all conservatives into the same generalized opinion... and that is not very accurate... saying that "The Democrats In General" don't really want the defense system activated, sounds much more intelligent and less like bashing
The_Dark Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 The Star Wars stuff was space based. Hence having the ability to hit things farther away. Also in development is an Ariel based Laser. Boeing is working on it. It's basically a large plane with a high power laser in the nose and lots of radar.
The_Dark Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 Well, the largest opposition to a Missle Defense was the LIBERAL party in Canada and Liberal Democrats in the USA. Thats thier label for themselves.
The_Dark Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 oh and Der Nister... Have you ever seen me praising the Republicans?
phee Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 By this line of reasoning since the "Conservatives" ignored all the 9/11 evidence then they must have not cared that the terrorists attacked, because the "Conservatives" were in control..... And this is an example, of an overgeneralization that is taken too far... Kind of like saying the "Liberals" are trying to block things that would make us safe... Why in the world would all liberals want to put us and themselves in danger.... it doesn't make any sense when put this way
The_Dark Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 Talk to them not me.... The political entitys that oppose this happen to call themselves Liberals. Thier label... not mine.
Der Nister Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Because it's almost always the Liberals that oppose anything that might keep us safe. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well one could split hairs about whom wants to keep this country safe and go with a some facts about this issue. Fact: President Bush was informed by President Clintons administration about the information they had gathered about Bin Laden's plans to attack the U.S. and I'd be willing to bet if that had happened while a Democratic President was in office the right wing would be on the Democrates like white on rice. It just strikes me as odd the so many republican supporters forget that their team dropped the ball on that one.
The_Dark Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 Oh and phee... everyone ignored the pre-9/11 warnings... everyone.
The_Dark Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 Der Nister... Clinton had Bin Laden in "his sights" more than one time and never did anything. As I said above.. thats EVERYONES fault.
phee Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Oh and phee... everyone ignored the pre-9/11 warnings... everyone. Yes that was kind of my whole point dark... Blaming one general group for everything that goes wrong on an issue is over generalizing... I consider you in comparison to myself a conservative... so I would not use a term like "The Conserivatives" when describing a vast statement like "The Conservatives are all Right Wing Bible Thumpers who hate Homosexuals" Although some politicians who call themselves "Conservative" may infact say that they are fundamentalist christians who think that the gays need to be whipped out.... That does not mean that all conservatives feel that way, because I know you as a conservative don't feel that way... Anymore than me as a "Liberal" wants to not have the country safe becasue that is what a politician that calls himself "Liberal" is against missle defense. Just because someone labels themselves something does not mean that they speak for everyone else who has labeled themselves the same... I could up and call myself right wing, and then declare that I hate the Irish... that doesn't mean that all other people who are right wing hate the irish.
Msterbeau Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 The Star Wars stuff was space based. Hence having the ability to hit things farther away. Also in development is an Ariel based Laser. Boeing is working on it. It's basically a large plane with a high power laser in the nose and lots of radar. SOME of it was space based. Other parts were a variety of ground-based interceptors. The plane-mounted laser I remember reading about 15 years ago.. They put it on a 747 ..or maybe a 707. (C-135) More on the space-based stuff: http://www.cdi.org/news/space-security/spa...nterceptors.pdf Our current ground-based solution: http://www.fas.org/spp/starwars/program/nmd/
