If you are going to use the term "Pro Abortion" as opposed to "Pro Choice", I am going to start refering to the "Pro Life" group as the "Anti Woman" group.

Thanks

pffff "pro abortion" is the only non-vague non-bs label on this thread so far.

i could bounce with "pro-abortion" and "anti-abortion," actually. assuming that abortion is such a loaded word is begging the question...

There is Pro-Life, Pro-Choice and Pro-Abortion. The difference between Pro-Choice and Pro-Abortion is well.. choice. I beleive in giving the women a choice.. keep the baby, have the baby and give it up for adoption, or have an abortion. Pro-Abortion activists never speak about keeping the baby or giving it up for adooption... Pro-Life and Pro-Choice people do.

*boggles*

I'M Pro-Abortion, or Pro-Choice, whichever you prefer. I don't bother defending a mother's right to carry a baby to term and keep it as her own because that's implied. I don't feel it's legally challenged like the right to have a legal, safe abortion is...

And I DON'T personally endorse "adopting out." =) It's always gonna be legal, of course, so again, it needs no defense.

out of curiosity, why not?? (or did i misunderstand!?)

i honestly still don't see the difference between pro-choice & pro-abortion. is there any way you could clarify a bit?

For the most part.. it has to do with the person. See.. many of the groups and people that claim to be Pro-Choice will never talk about actually making a choice. They talk about Abortions.. and how it has to be made as easy and safe as possible... (and I'm all for that) but actually making a choice is never in the conversation.. they promote abortion... and only abortion. These are also the people that somehow think it's evil to promote abstinance.

to me.. thats not pro-choice.. thats pro-abortion. Someone who is truly Pro-Choice considers all the choices... Keeping hte baby, adopting the baby out, abortion or abstinance.

I have never seen someone only promote abortion without analyzing the other options then yu mentioned... ever... all of the pro-choice people I have ever met analyze all of the formentioned options plus abortion.... while "prolife" people analize the options minus abortion.... or is that the difference you are trying to make visible.... that someone who does see the option is now "for" the option? IE: "Pro-abortion" means "Pro-abortion-adoption-abstenence-keeping the baby"

Fine... make me think...

Go to NARAL's website... Click on Issues.... find adoption or abstinance. I bet you cant. Thier section on Choice has links about abortion. The section on Sex is nothing but anti-abstinance rants, abortion, birth control and sex education.

Planned Parenthood is the only Pro-Choice group I can find that promotes adoption as a choice. Though, the fact that abstanance is only brought up under the catagory of Men's health kinda bothers me.

To me.. to be Pro-Choice you actually have to support all the choices as valid.

Which I do... and I agree

I think that where the conflict lays is on the issue of abortion. Adoption is not something that is being debated, adoption doesn't have people who want it to be outlawed. So naturally, if you're a pro-choice activist you wouldn't talk about adoption--the issue is keeping the choice of abortion available. And I'm pretty sure that adoption may cross say...a 18 year old chick's mind after she has been raped and becomes pregnant...but it's her buisness if she doesn't talk about what she's thinking until she's already decided on abortion, if that's what she decides. And there's nothing that says people in this country have to discuss everything they're thinking with pro-life activists...and you'd especially not discuss it with someone who simply wants to paint a vulgar picture of what you're doing.

I mean seriously, do you also expect pro-guns people to talk about the option of knives when they're on the stand?

To TA and anyone else who's curious...

I believe that abortion should be destigmatized, probably more so than most people. I've never had the occassion to get one, and at my age, I probably never will, even if I accidentally conceive in the near future.

That's because at this point, I feel I'm somewhat equipped to raise a child. I wouldn't consider adopting-out when I could have an abortion instead because there are already hundreds of thousands of other children in need without bringing a new one into the world that could be nipped in the bud if I act quickly and responsibly.

I realize that there are many loving foster families, but look at the numbers. There will always be more children who need that care than there are families who can provide it- and should the blessed day come when we can provide for all our children and there are STILL couples who can't have their own, the fruits of stem-cell research might be able to help them.

It's not that I don't care about fetuses, it's that I care too much about the underloved children they'll become. People who don't want to be parents shouldn't be parents, and birthing a child just to give it away is terribly irresponsible.

^It goes without explanation, I thought. No one's aborting as a hobby. There aren't clubs you can join where people fuck each other, whilst having tea and shortbread, simply to eventually have abortions.

I'm thinking I'm going to be moving to AZ, soon! Can't wait! I friggin' love it here! The heat doesn't bother me at all and the best part? NO SNOW!!! (S.N.O.W. - Shit  No One Wants)   Been staying in Bullhead City where the kids and grandkids live. Next, we're going to the wife's cousin's which is a ways North of Kingman, in the middle of nowhere, where we actually plan to move.   I really like Bullhead. It's a nice little town. Not overcrowded like Colorado Springs has become, at all. Very light traffic, reasonable prices on everything, low taxes, etc. The river offers a lot to do, with a lot of beaches and campgrounds all around it.   But yeah even though we've been over 110º-115º F just about every day,  I can handle it!  What I can't handle anymore, is snow and being cold. Just tired of it. Give me the desert over a blizzard any day!

Nope, we wasn't doing anything. I didn't want to go by myself.  I ended up doing karaoke here. It would of been a perfect day to go, though.
